Hi, Bolton fan here, please don't crucify me!

I've been reading some comments about your current situation, and I've just come here to try and reasure you if I can.

I know we are both fighting for our lives and Bolton aren't anywhere near safety yet, but if you do go down to League 1, it isn't the end, in fact it might be the start of something new for your club.

We went down to League 1 2 seasons ago, with just 30 points, a record low, had near 200m in debt, players and staff wages not paid, and in the news constantly for all the bad reasons.

But slowly we rebuilt in League 1, got new owners, new manager and enjoyed one of my favourite seasons as a Bolton supporter, in comparison to misery we endured in the Prem and Championship. We didn't win the league, but to see everybody smiling again was very rewarding after the last 6 years of our decline.

League 1 is an appalling league, and all I'm saying is if Bolton could get promoted, you certainly can. Seeing a near packed out stadium for the last few home matches was incredible again.

I really hope you stay up, and hopefully in the future Sunderland vs Bolton will be a premier league match again.

All the best.

No offence but Bolton are hardly an inspiring story of a rise from adversity. You are probably coming to back league 1 with us ffs

I would take promotion from League One and being in Bolton's shoes in 2 years time over the more likely alternatives of plummeting to mid-table or worse in that division and going into administration.

To be fair it wasn't that long ago when Bolton were Arsenal's bugbear team & we've achieved no better over the last 10 years. Thanks for the post, but our player issues are on a different galaxy.

Fuck off

Toon toon

Bolton were borderline skint again at start of season weren't they? Couldn't even afford to sign any players.

Still above us anarl:lol:. Shows how far team spirit and effort goes

I always use two clubs as a comparison to us. Aston Villa and Bolton.

Aston Villa - American owner, spent big at first, didn't get to where he thought it should be for money put in, pulled plug, went down very quickly after leaving a toxic atmosphere BUT SOLD THAT SUMMER. Club stabilized after a rocky start to 12th in championship.

That's what I thought would happen with us. And I put 12th in my prediction as we seemed to be a mirror image of villa in so many details but exactly 12 months behind them in everything we were doing. The key difference being Lerner sold in that summer, Short didn't and that is the key factor for our problems

Then there is Bolton. Went down from premier league with reported £150m debts and the size of the club just couldn't float with that on board and sunk to League 1.

I hoped we would be Villa, but it's looking like it's going to be a Bolton.
