1358. I find it odd that anyone would want to do a disservice to the loyalty of the fanbase given the circumstances.

Nobody's discrediting it. I commented on another thread that it was an excellent effort as was Birmighams 1600 at Brentford and Sheff Weds 1800 at Millwall the same night (a Tuesday in February). People just looking for reasons to get themselves offended.

You cant even argue the fact we are some of the best fans in the country. The complete and sheer utter f***ing shit we have to put up with, in large quantities and length of time of said shit, is incredible. Even (rarely) when the going is great, it’s only average.

Anybody who dares to question our support is an idiot.

we haven't even protested

damp f***ing kippers

whose best memories are Bristol Rovers away, the battle of Pink Lane and Man City at home

the young men of that era would be up in arms

these modern day fans are more interested in the new apple phone and free balti pies

rip sunderland

doubt there is a way back with these tossers

Normally a thread on how good our away support is goes unchallenged.

This is a general problem among football fans. They always assume that their passion is somehow greater than that of fans of other teams. It's bollocks of course. Particularly in the south, most of Sunderland and Newcastle's away support comes from people who live down their having had to move away for work. I was at Palace the other year and we had around four or five Armstrong Galley type buses parked outside the ground. To hear some people go on you would have had around 600 on each bus.

He thinks he's invisible mate, probably a bairn in his bedroom wearing his Alan Shearer pyjamas. Childish wind-ups about attendances and free tickets. If his lot had gone through what we have in the past 50 years there would be mass demonstrations on a nuclear scale and media wailing not seen since the Princess Di car crash

I don't think our away support has been really good this season by our usual high standards. 1100 at Bolton on a Tuesday night is a good effort but for a club who've almost consistently averaged 40k at home for a Decade doesn't really warrant as much self praise in my opinion. Apologies for not towing the party line.

Well said

Why would you challenge loyal supporters who pay hard earned cash to follow their team. We took thousands upon thousands to witness relegation on many occasions. Anybody who criticises the fans are either mags or nuts or both.

The likes of both Sheffield teams have had it worse than us over the last few years and get similar crowds. As fans we can't say we're any better than they are for example.
They've reached lower depths in terms of Leagues. but haven't had to endure history’s worst home record of failing to win for a year.
They haven’t had either the worst, or one of the worst, points per games records out of all 92 league clubs in England for the last 5 successive years.
They haven’t had to watch 17 consecutive defeats.
They haven’t recorded 3 of the 6 lowest points totals in Premier League history.

The last decade or so has been appalling to watch and endure. I don’t think many clubs could compare.

I'd still take our last Decade above either of the Sheffield clubs, especially Sheff Utd who had 4 seasons in League One.

Our? you lot were 5th under Pardew top 3 under Keegan Sir Bobby, no comparison with Sunlun or either Sheffield Club. Now go and wash that smelly gravy and puke stained barcode shart
