Utter rubbish. If for example, a team loses five of their best players for £100m, and spends £40m on replacements, you can't say oh well he spent £40m so that 's what he should be judged on. Of course it makes a difference who is sold ffs :lol:

Perhaps if he's sold all these players for good fees he should have been able to keep them up in the first place.

Makes no difference how much he sold it’s his buying record that’ll be scrutinised

of course it makes a difference, the price of out goings effect the quality and what you can spend on your incomings........especially if thats one of the main parts of your budget.

tally up spend and sales....total = how much it has taken rafa to get a relegated side back into the top 7 of the prem(as of now).

and which players he has bought or inhereted values has fell, stayed the same or increased.

or the easier way...............just accept rafa's a good manager and our spend to get back to where we are has been buttons compaired to the profit of being and staying in the prem.

He s already done an excellent job but the 'net profit' is a flawed argument. Its about how much money you have spent on top of the players you already have. He pulled in an load of money on players such as Sissoko who weren't contributing to the team in the first place. He spent over 100 million quid on top of some decent players that were already there (Elliott, Dummett, M'Bemba, Lascelles, Shelvey, Colback, Perez, Mitrovic) all played last year or have been involved this year. However that said - he is doing a cracking job there - he has them disciplined, organized and he has used his money very well. Fair play to him.

Sissoko was captain of the team in the run-in. But aye, zero contribution.

Captain of the team that were the only side in Villa's last 15 games to fail to beat them or fail to score against them. Captain of the team that took 2 points from Villa, Norwich and Sunderland and captain of the team that got you relegated and according to every NUFC fan I ever speak to (i'm from Gateshead) the Spurs game aside he was utter, utter shite. Most would have taken half the money you got for him.

So aye - zero contribution.

Has anyone ever mentioned that we failed to beat Sunderland, Norwich or Villa on here?

Christ almighty

Look man, it's fairly normal practice that when you lose a talented player but get a big fee for him you buy a half decent replacement. The Sunderland way is to sell the likes of Pickford and replace him with a bag of shite and this goes a long way to explaining why we are where we are and you are where you are.

Are you a bit slow?

What do you expect when you try and big up Sissoko's contribution in the run in?

Not much to argue with there tbf as things stand today  however you make it sound as if NUFC haven't been relegated and struggled at the bottom end of the prem in recent years because of shit purchases and are in fact this great business model that we should all aspire to.

That’s not my point at all, my point is Rafa still spent money. Now fuck off.

They've done well grinding out the results so far, but been unconvincing tbh.
I've seen plenty of unconvincing sides in that Premier League over the past few years whereby grinding out results is more than enough. Sadly last season, we weren't one of them.

Bollocks.

If the manager sells players worth 200 million and then spends that 200 million on new players.

Tell me how much has the manager spent?
I,'ll tell you in case you struggle - he has spent 200 million and will be judged on that 200 million or are you honestly saying that if the manager takes them down it's okay as he spent 0
It’s like saying koeman sold lukaku for £90 million so the £100 he wasted doesn’t count
