Unconvincing in what regard? Style of play? Possibly, but he's made Newcastle a hard team to beat there’s no denying that.

I don't know Sky have thought the general public deserve a MNF showing of Burnley v Newcastle, the two most unattractive playing sides in the league.
The players don't look particularly good. Organised but limited. The game against Palace just looked like two poor sides to me. I've seen them a few times this season and they've never looked particularly comfortable to me.

'Organised but limited' is the perfect description.

He's spent less than he's brought in. It's simply a fact. I don't know why so many are in denial about this.
Makes no difference at all. He has still spent a lot of money. If a new owner comes in an gives him 500 million in one season he has spent 500 million on players regardless of what is sold.

If I asked everyone on here how much they paid for their house not one person would take off the amount of the sale of their previous house. Everyone to a man (or woman) would tell me the price they paid for it.

They've done well grinding out the results so far, but been unconvincing tbh.
This
Joselu & Merinos goals were jammy as fuck - 2 defelections
They played Southampton who probably would have been better off with one of our keepers in goal that day
They've deff had the rub of the green of late
I still recon they'll be bottom 6 at the end of the season

Tbf the fixture list has been very kind to them. They've only played one decent team all season so far, and that was the first game

Yet they're doing okay. Many on here thought the gap between the PL and Championship was huge. Take away the top 6 and it's not. Any 3 from 14 are at risk of relegation and the promoted teams are well capable of matching the other 11 teams in that bracket. Good news for us as when we do return to the PL.
The same argument was used to suggest that we'd be fine in the Championship as Cattermole and N'dong would be the midfield pairing, Kone the best CH and Jones would be fine.

But if I'd sold my old house for more money and bought a better one for less I'd still tell people.

And I for one Qwerty would congratulate you on your shrewd purchase. Although I'd secretly hate you.

Utter rubbish. If for example, a team loses five of their best players for £100m, and spends £40m on replacements, you can't say oh well he spent £40m so that 's what he should be judged on. Of course it makes a difference who is sold ffs :lol:

They've spent the money though, £80m before going down and what was it £40m in the Championship to come back up? They have the players to turn it around, our lot are useless and don't have the quality to go back into the Prem. In the press conference with Grayson's arrival it was said the aim is to get promotion, what without investing in players needed. They've done well, I hoped they would do badly but they will probably finish mid table.

Bollocks.

If the manager sells players worth 200 million and then spends that 200 million on new players.

Tell me how much has the manager spent?
I,'ll tell you in case you struggle - he has spent 200 million and will be judged on that 200 million or are you honestly saying that if the manager takes them down it's okay as he spent 0

Shows what a decent manager can do with limited funds
Not a good idea for this atm. It's true but no need to kick us while we're down.

It's like a drug bust every time I hear about the skunks spending the figures get higher and higher. If it's nothing to do with the manager other than the players bought in why do we all want Grayson sacked?

But if the old house was the same price I'd say I managed to get it without paying any out of pocket.

Whenever I've asked anyone how much they spent for their house everyone tells you the same thing.

How much they paid for it. No one ever says but exclude the money from my old house and the money i got from auntie Jean and the sale from dog last month

Anyone would think we haven't had any money to spend on players in seasons past. We have bought absolute crap and have a swinging door manager (not just paying out the sacked manager but all his backroom staff). The mags spent what they sold, somehow got a good manager, while we spent with loans, and now it's killing us as Short isn't going to give us much more (if any, regardless of manager) in January.

He's made a profit on fees. I think come the end of the season if he's taken an aging team destined for relegation and produced a young team sitting mid table premiership then I don't think there can be any doubt he's done a good job. Still a long way to go though.

He s already done an excellent job but the 'net profit' is a flawed argument. Its about how much money you have spent on top of the players you already have. He pulled in an load of money on players such as Sissoko who weren't contributing to the team in the first place. He spent over 100 million quid on top of some decent players that were already there (Elliott, Dummett, M'Bemba, Lascelles, Shelvey, Colback, Perez, Mitrovic) all played last year or have been involved this year. However that said - he is doing a cracking job there - he has them disciplined, organized and he has used his money very well. Fair play to him.
