George Honeyman: Revisited.

His biggest issue is that he isn’t consistent. He has played well in some games and then others you have no clue he’s playing.
For me he needs to bulk up a little and be a little more aggressive without the ball. With the ball needs to take care of it a little more and not waste it.

It's good to see a young un like Honeyman making himself available and being prepared to run beyond our forwards. Especially when we're used to watching our midfield hiding for much of the game.

Mind, he makes me cringe with his positional play and reading of threats when we're not in possession. He could turn out to be a treasure if he sorts that aspect of his game.

I'm not his biggest fan, but he's clearly technically sound on the ball and has an intelligence about him in the way he tries to use it, and the way he turns up in pockets of the pitch none of our other players do.

Sure, he struggles with consistency and could do with bulking up.

But of the two paragraphs above, which do we think are easier to teach/change as a footballer?

He certainly has plenty of energy which the team does lack in general therefore is an asset to the squad imo
As has been mentioned he gets caught out of position but a good manager can soon sort that out with the right coaching
Could He end up a good player ?
Certainly worth a shot

He tries his best. Unlike some of our fans who spent the whole day yesterday happily booing him and giving him shit.

I had a go at a few of them as I think the stick he gets is rediculous. He's not a world beater but he's in the team for a reason, as we don't have anyone better. He never hides and gives his best which is all we can ever ask of a player. If only those on numerators many times his salary did the same, we would be fine.

Its a shame that young lads from Sunderland think its OK to have a go at another young lad from Sunderland who is trying his best to play for our team.
Does he try his best though? Look at that goal conceded against villa. It seemed he couldn't be arsed tracking his man.
Still ridiculous booing him.

Hes been really poor this season. Plays in circles and doesnt look interested defensively. He must be 23/24 so hardly a youngster anymore anarl
Reminds me a bit of Ryan mason. He was 23 when he made his Spurs debut too but ultimately wasn't good enough.

Exactly. Could just be that a better manager knows how to use his players and to get the best out of them.

Like I've said above I think Honeyman was been really poor this season but then it could be due to Graysons dogshit style of play
Really poor this season... as a pose to all his other good seasons?

Also doesn’t look intrested defensively is just a joke of a comment imo

And I don’t rate him

A young, inexperienced player not consistent? Heaven forbid

He is a midfielder who isn't strong isn't quick isn't good at passing or tackling
But scores goals

Probably our lowest paid player who didn't do much before getting into our first team so he's an easy target for a lot of the fans despite not being any worse than most our other midfielders

He can't tackle as well as cattermole can't pass as well as Gibson and is slower than ndong and that's not me praising them

Hardly a joke of a comment. If you can be bothered then go back and watch the 2 villa goals and watch his work rate tracking back. Keenan Davis is just ahead of him for the first, picks the ball up, lays it off and gets to the back post and Honeyman doesn't even get back into shot to cover Onomah.

The second look at the knockdown by Onomah and Honeymans lack of effort to get back goalside.

I'll save ya time
- first
- second
