He's absolutely pathetic. Look at his work tracking back for the first goal. He's just behind Kenan Davis (who runs far post) and that lazy fucker doesn't make even make it back into our box. Should be busting a gut to get back in so early on in the game and he's jogging Pathetic

Exactly. People saying he has a good work rate are wrong. When it matters he goes missing.

Shows for the ball, trys to play forward and gives his all. Physically he can’t handle this league, but not sure why he’s turning into a scapegoat.

This didnt happen did it

I bet it did. I've worked/coached alongside a former Gateshead centre half who was at Gateshead during Honeyman's spell there. He was there with another Sunderland loanee (name escapes me) iirc. My mate was adamant they were easily amongst the worst players in the squad and used them as examples as to how poor the 23s league is. They were totally out of their depth apparently. His argument went along the lines of Premier League clubs churn out numerous totally useless players that wouldn't get into the Gateshead team (Honeyman being prime example) but look good against similar players of their age and these players are found out immediately when they're not all strolling about on a Wednesday night at Hetton & have to go up against players who'll kick them and not give them a minute's peace. They go from strolling about for the 23s into the fast and furious standard of top flight football. It can be no surprise that so few make it.

18 months later and he's a regular in our first team. :D

I never saw it but I gather he was dross!

He wasnt good like, gave the ball away to often, passing was very poor especially when trying to go forward, looked lost tonight in what I thought was a decent enough performance otherwise.

Loads of hatred.
honeycunt was used tonight. Some awful people on here like.
He gives his all, he’s playing in an awful team with no confidence, has little experience , and doesn’t hide.
How anyone can call him a cunt is beyond me

Watch the video of the first goal. Watch where he is when we lose it and watch where he is when they score.
The tell me if you still think he gives his all.

To be fair that just highlights your mates lack of football knowledge.

Baffles me still why he gets so much abuse on here.

He is a tidy player, finds a Sunderland player with most of his passes, wriggles his way out of trouble and is quick to turn in the middle of park. He can beat a player (this has dried up as the season has progressed but we know it is there) and he gives his all and is always showing in the middle of the park.

No idea why he seems to be so hated on here, he's a decent player at this level and is definitely good enough for the bench when all are fit.

He's f***ing garbage

How did you watch it Coeus?
Were you there?

how?

He has played alongside Honeyman. I think he knows Honeyman more than anyone on this place. He only mentioned Honeyman after I said hopefully the likes of Honeyman can kick on soon. His attitude was not a chance, he's hopeless. Honeyman might have made it into our first team (which has nosedived dramatically since our conversation) but I'm not convinced that equates to "kicking on". He still doesn't really do anything but we're in a position where we don't have any other options.

He was about to be released iirc but here he is getting games for the first team.

Playing 2 gnomes in central midfield doesn't work in the Championship, we need players who can win the ball & keep hold of it.

he was.

because he was utterly useless at Gateshead. Non-league plodders running rings around him. The 23s leagues are totally pointless imo. Honeyman would have spent the last 3 years or so playing against maybe 2 or 3 players (absolute maximum) per week that'll make a career in football. The majority won't get anywhere near their first team. That applies to most of Honeyman's teammates during that period too.

I don't know what the alternative is but these players can't be judged by their ability in the 23s. Honeyman was packed off on loan so we could make a judgement. That judgement was made and then reversed and he's landed in the 1st team.

He's went from not being picked for Gateshead to first team here. This club is fucked.
