That farmer in The Lake District

Thing is this service has been going for years in relatively small numbers, as with anything it gains in popularity and you get self righteous pricks turning up full of importance about their reasons for doing it with little or no regard for their surroundings. If they’re that keen on the lakes and not interested in looking good on Facebook then why didn’t they drive a few hundred yards further up the dead end road to the campsite and offer the owner £20 to park their car for the morning.
Good on the farmer, hope people take notice of this and treat the place with more respect.
really?

The weekend warriors should have parked up better than they did.
Chelsea tractors on both sides of a narrow road leaving little room for a tractor & trailer to get through.
At the very least ALL of them should have parked up on the grass verge in single file leaving plenty of room for tractors to get passed.

Ha'way the farmer on this one.

You’re condoning criminal damage if someone parks badly?

Mind giving your address and registration to the SMB so someone can come round and put your car windows in the next time you park badly?

Yep, really. You see them all the time over there, especially around three peaks time.

“Good on the farmer”

You idiot

Likewise, if you park badly and your car is intentionally damaged I hope you won’t utter a word of complaint because clearly in Cowvahlo land that condones thousands of pounds worth of criminal damage

The sides of their trailers can be quite sharp though!

The farmer musn't care about being charged as the sides of his trailer will be covered in evidence. Scrapings of Jaguar, Mini, etc....

I wonder if those cars were actually parked on his private road to his farm?

You think it’s ok parking with ignorance and blocking someone’s access? What if the farmer needed an ambulance up at his farm or mountain rescue needed to get up there?

I’m assuming you’ve never been to the place that’s being discussed? There’s no need for people to park like utter cretins and block someone’s livelihood. There’s plenty of other options for parking.

Maybe get off your high horse and stop looking at criminal damage headline and think about the impact this has on the lives of the people who are affected by it on a weekly basis.

You idiot

Never said it’s okay to park badly. Stop making things up.

You are an idiot for condoning causing thousands of pounds of criminal damage mind.

Like I said to the other bloke, doubt you’d be happy if someone put your windows through if you parked badly.

The difference is I wouldn’t park badly, I would and do always park with and act with consideration whenever I go over there. People forget it’s actually a working place and not just a tourist attraction.

I’m not condoning criminal damage I’m suporting the farmers actions. He’ll have put up with this shit for years, will have complained to the council for years and got no where. I dare say his actions are born out of pure frustration. If he’s willing to accept the consequences and it stops people doing it then good on him.

You know, you’re obviously a canny lad and I do like you but at times I want to shake this do gooder naivety out of you. The world isn’t as black and white as the law lets you believe.

Equally there’s no need to damage people’s cars.

If you want to play the “What if” card, what if someone that has their car wrecked gets an emergency call and can’t leave because their car is wrecked by a deranged farmer?

You’re not condoning his actions, but you’re supporting and praising him.

He does not have the right to damage people’s cars.

If you parked on one side of the street, legally and someone parked opposite you, illegally that would create a bottle neck.

Now let’s say the bin lorry gets pissed off and pushes through, f***ing your car door.

You’d say “good job” to the council I guess?

That’s a perfectly valid point and why people should think twice about where they park in the place. It comes down to people parking like twats, if people don’t park like twats they don’t get their cars damaged either on purpose or accidentally.

Great well the next time you park badly - you’re not a saint, you will park badly from time to time - and your car gets damaged, no right of complaint

There’s been knobbish behaviour on both sides here.

He’ll have to accept the consequences.
