Fixing a bog seat

It’s the screw just turning I thought he said which could mean either. They look like shite fittings to be fair.
I fitted the same seat last year but prefer the old bolt through the hole with a wingnut on the back type. The advantage of those fittings is its easy to remove the seat for cleaning you just press the chrome button in the middle and lift it off. Not that I ever do.

Toilet seats hinges are a f***ing rubbish design like. No matter how tight you screw them together, they always work loose eventually, and then you find the wingnuts are seized onto the threaded rods.
There must be a better way to do it.

It's about £20 for a replacement soft close toilet seat which will fit right into the existing sticky up metal bits. Treat yourself to a new seat.
It's the sticky up metal bits that are the problem!

Insulating tape was something I was thinking of, I'll give that a try ta

Just sit on the pewter,pal.

No seat needed.Bit cold at first but you will find that you can get better ‘torque’ on the load and even blast it out in one firm pack. Like a dunk shot as it were.
Saves on bog roll too,and leaves room for the nobb to loll at the front.

Who needs a seat.

Get a bog seat where the fixings are similar to a toggle fixing, it opens up once inserted in through the hole and pulls back against the porcelain.

Ah right, if you buy a new seat you'll get new metal bits with it.

Something like this maybe

Again, the problem is that standard fittings aren't fitting my toilet. Someone above suggested a fix which I'll try later.

Is that like a spring loaded triangle metal fitting by any chance?

Aye, depends on the holes in the bog like, as I had one where the fixing was too tight to fit through the hole.

@PTR
Any updates?
Nah, had to disassemble a cabinet last night, and will be putting it back up (in the new house) tonight.

I've ordered a rubber plug that seems to expand more - so that'll be here mid-next week, so I'll try that. Although Might just try some tape over the plug I've already bought first. Just needs to nip up and it'll be fine

I've never been this excited since some knacker started a thread about sealing around the bath.

Can not wait for this rubber plug to arrive next week
