SMB Worst Car you've owned

Every shit car I've had has been shit because it was old and cost much less than it should have.

Had a Honda HRV last year that was a right clip when I bought it.

Cleaned it up and noticed on closer inspection the bonnet had been hand-resprayed a much more metallic silver than the rest of the car but had originally been black. My mate also found the radiator from an automatic had been fitted, so the front end had obviously been bashed up at some point.

The valves had gone on every wheel so they kept going flat.

The driver's side wheel bearings were shot so I had the hub replaced and with the new found silence it was clear the back two were on their way out as well.

Someone had removed the prop shaft, turning it from 4WD to FWD, making it drive like shit.

I really wanted to like it but all I got out of it was lessons in what not to do when you buy a car.[/QUOT

Did you view it in the dark wearing a welders mask?

None of cars I've owned have been that bad. If this was the worst car I've ever driven, it was a Dodge Avenger that the car rental company allocated in the "or similar" category to a Skoda Octavia. Similar it is definitely not, since the Octavia is a perfectly decent affordable motor, while the Dodge Avenger would need several upgrades to even qualify as a f***ing piece of shit. A boat with an outboard engine, being driven across a freshly ploughed field, would handle better than that pile of chod.

1.3 Ford orion, 350k on the clock and felt as though all four corners of the car were about to fall off. Had an aftermarket sunroof fitted that leaked so much I siliconed the twat shut. Part exd it towards a mk4 Xr3i but the 4 months I had it were the worst motoring days of my life.

Bit of an edit, it was a 9 year old car with one previous owner, my uncles mate who gave it to me for nowt, some going that mind, 350k in 9 years in a 1.3 orion.

Seems to be a lot of Renaults here! My Clio was utter shit.
Hire company gave me a Clio for a few days last month, complete shit. 1.6 diesel that was slow as fuck, couldn't use the sun visor without it flapping on my head, changing gear was like stirring a bag of porridge and the rear window was about the size of a stamp.

It appears 20 years hasn't changed a thing then!

Only had 4 cars, worst was my Mondeo that i just bought as a run around cause i didn't have a lot of money, 500 quid and part ex'd by Audi A3 that was falling to bits after being fiercely loyal for 8 years and amassing 200k on the clock. For the money though it was fine, last me 2 years, in that time it had a new engine, clutch, flywheel, gearbox... Was going to scrap it when the clutch went but as we were talking about it the garage opposite bought the exact same car in on the back of a truck with a fucked diesel pump. So we bought that for 80 quid and just swapped the whole front end over. Was going to sell it for 200 quid, was very upfront about the fact it was a bit fucked and needed a new alternator (all the electrics would flicker including the lights for a good month before i got my new car). So was driving it around Durham with this lad keen as mustard to buy it and the alternator went. Ended up getting 60 quid scrap for it.

Can't say i've had a really terrible car though.

Having never spunked more than £850 for a car I've had more than the odd full house in the game of shit car bingo. The outright winner has to be my £99 shit brown Y reg Sierra that I bought after having a car stolen while on leave (cheaper than the train fare back). Non existant brakes, hole in the petrol tank with the permanent stench of petrol in the car. Front windows didn't work neither did the the drivers door open from the outside. all of these were minor issues compared to the engine, which barely worked. Got stopped by a traffic copper on the A19 because he couldn't believe it had made it all the way from Scotland after running a check on it. Scrapped it 3 months later, got £90 for the car and £30 back on the tax. How I survived it is beyond me.
