Rafa. He's still not happy

You may be surprised.

No chance. This is one of the 6 fixtures most teams would've wanted to start the season with. Any of the three newly promoted sides at home or away is no sweat for a team with title aspirations. Early chance to get the goal difference looking decent

Is there any surprise Ashley is reluctant to allow Benitez free reign on transfers, half of his 'vital' signings have barely played in the Championship and aren't good enough for the PL despite them often being given long contracts. Many of the team that was relegated, and deemed unfit for service, is still there and helped the club to promotion. Now, having failed to bring in adequate replacements, he wants to sign more players at higher prices despite having his original signings soaking up wages ....... Ashley has seen this all before and wont just piss money up the wall.

Benitez bought a keeper for £6 million to replace Darlow who Pardew had signed ...... he played a handful of games and is now behind Darlow again.

He bought Gamez who just vanished and couldn't even shift Anita who Pardew had signed iirc, not sure tbh ..... now Manquillo has come in.

He bought Lazaar, on a 5 year deal to replace Newcastle 'boo -boy' Dummett ...... has he even played?

There are others who are iffy and probably not really good enough for the PL, Hanley, Atsu, Diame?

What happens to all these players, do they just stay home and play Kerplunk?

You certainly seem to take a very keen interest in Newcastle United with that very in depth assessment of their squad in the championship . I bet most mags couldn't name more than 5 players in our current championship squad

What style is this you speak of? You probably know very little about Perez, you are making assumptions yet again based on nothing.

You have at least £15m to play with, are you suggesting that you'll blow a large proportion of that on a single player? Then there's the wages issue.

I think he'll be heading elsewhere, probably abroad.

You may be surprised.

No I'm not, I'm basing it on descriptions from Arsenal mates, on Arsenal fans on message boards, on videos, and so on. But I guarantee that's not enough for you, so crack on Zig

I think spending £15m on a striker now to keep us up is peanuts, especially when that will be covered by the next tranche or two of the Premier League money.

I also think he'll head abroad.

I think on Sunday we will get comfortably beaten by Spurs. Runners up last season, vs newly promoted team that hasn't done much strengthening. Nailed on Spurs win.
Could even be so soundly beaten that we are bottom of the league after the first weekend.

If we somehow manage to win, and play well, how will Ashley react? I think that would strengthen his case for not signing more players. Nee danger of us winning though.

They're short on bodies due to injuries, they've sold their best rightback and they've not bought a soul, that said, they're comfortably better than us. 1-2 to the Cockernees.

Just seen reports from The Mirror that we've signed that Kenedy on loan from Chelsea.
Nowhere else reporting it, other than with reference to The Mirrors piece.
One to grow the brand in Asia.

Edit. Only the mirror saying its done. That I've seen anyway.

Another 5-1 win then. Get in.

Arsenal mates, of course you've got loads of mates who support Arsenal and have seen Perez play loads of games, at least make it plausible.

My Arsenal supporting mates (x2) say he's shown nothing to deserve a starting spot but you keep talking to people on forums and watching videos to base your views on, fuckin videos man

Let's say you blow about £15m on him, do you believe he has the goalscoring record to keep you up?

Wasn't there a stipulation in his deal with you that if he played a certain amount you'd be forced to buy him for £X?

fwiw Manquillo wasn't greeted with much fanfare amongst the lads I know, and while he's looked ok in preseason that's preseason and counts for not a lot.
You may be right on that marra I'm not sure. However, you'd be hard pushed to find a Sunderland fan who on the evidence of their own eyes thought he was any good.

Too many people enjoy trying to twist meaning, unfortunately that means to get a pretty straightforward point across I have to couch it in terms that reduce the likelihood of that. e.g. "aren't currently a truly big club" is still met with "eeee lookit the delewded jawdee, he thinks theyuh gonna be a massive club" and so on. Boring for everyone, I'm sure, but perhaps if people didn't play fast and loose with sentiment it wouldn't be necessary.

Fookin massive gravy stained bellies.....

I definitely said "Loads of mates" who've seen him "loads of times". I 100% said that. That is a direct quote. f***ing Hell Zig, you're not even trying any more.

Dunno, but I do think he's at least cover in an area we're not particularly strong.

Aye I've seen plenty say he's a bit shit, and like I said, no one was weak at the knees at the thought of signing him. He's looked alright in preseason, and his poor performances with you might have been due to a number of factors (there were plenty in that side playing beneath themselves), but it's more likely he's an average to poor Premier League player. I imagine he was bought as cover/rotation for Yedlin.

So it's good business to spend around £15m on a player for cover, fuckin hell this gets better!

Did I say anywhere you said you had loads of mates who support Arsenal? No I didn't, I was taking the piss because you're simply basing your views on a player you won't sign on what some random people you asked a question to on an Arsenal forum.

Videos man. :lol::lol:

All irrelevant I reckon. Seems to be an ever decreasing chance of him joining Newcastle. I reckon they will do a last minute loan of somebody with a decent reputation, but probably on the decline. Remy, Wickham, Bony etc

Good lord. This is the pointless shit I'm talking about. Obviously I was saying that £15m is worth gambling on a player who looks good enough, but if he isn't good enough to start, at the very least we'll have cover. This was plain as the nose on your face, and other thanbeing ornery I don't see the point in your constant misrepresentation of my fairly straightforward points.

I'm sorry, what were you denying?

I have two Arsenal supporting mates, and yes I've asked other Arsenal fans that I don't know, I watched videos, I've checked his stats on whoscored, transfermarkt, Wyscout, and browsed his Wiki too. But as I predicted, that's insufficient for the arbiter of knowledge.

I have very few people on ignore on this board and Zig is one of them. It embarrassed me that he loved the toon more than I, so I had to block him out.

We'll not go after any of those and barring Wickham neither of those would join us anyway.

I predict we won't sign another striker at all, not for the want of trying, but simply that the plums in charge of transfer negotiations (Barnes and Charnley) can't get deals done (Abraham, Cabellero) and underestimate the market, while overestimating the strength of their bargaining position.
