No, but we were dealing in a hypothetical. Either they go and he's got the money, or they stay and he doesn't.

What the reality is that he's a Fat Fookin Fraud, a cheque book manager, how much did he spunk at the bindippas?

Now's his gussets are sodden 'cos he's gonna be found out and leathered week in week out.....

Unlike Gracey who's a proppa coach.......

There is a different mentality on the continent. But part of the reason there haven't been English managers at the big clubs is because there's been a f***ing absence of them. Howe is interesting and I honestly think if he has another good season at Bournemouth he'll be in the conversations for clubs like Arsenal, Tottenham etc.

Aside from Howe, which good English managers have unfairly not had a chance at a proper big club?

Also, when Man United, Man City can cherry pick the very best managers around, why would they risk their club's future in the hands of someone who isn't tested. Had Howe moved to Germany and dragged Mainz into a title challenge, or won the French league with Nice or Lyon he'd have a better chance of breaking into the Premier League's elite, than if he stays at Bournemouth and gets them to 8th a few seasons in a row.

It's just hyperbole, you cannot reasonably expect Newcastle fans to caveat their praise for their manager just to calm the fury on Wearside? Fwiw, I don't call him world class and the majority of my mates are the same. Those that do call him world class are just meaning he's a very good manager and much, much better standard than we expected to have under Ashley.

Agree with your last bit entirely, it's a big task ahead of him, made tougher by our modest spending. Modest by this market anyway. Put it this way, we spent more the last time we came up than we have this time and we had a much better squad. We were able to keep much of our Premier League players after our 09 relegation, so when we came up we had a settled Premier League back line, an experienced midfield and an exciting young striker up front. A few gambles and we ended up finishing 12th on 46pts. I'd snap your hands off for that now if it was offered.

You never get tired of typing pointless essays?

You've probably got a higher word count on here than in the whole Harry Potter book series.

Talk about pissing in the wind bet 5% of people even read your dribble if that

The thing is a lot of your fans don't help the cause as they all describe Benitez as world class. I agree he's a very decent manager but a lot of your fans go way over the top about him mind

This season will show how good of a manager he is as it's probably the first time he's managed a pretty poor/ aveeage squad in the premier league

a lot? how many like? i don't see it, hear it, you just make it up.................

Too many people enjoy trying to twist meaning, unfortunately that means to get a pretty straightforward point across I have to couch it in terms that reduce the likelihood of that. e.g. "aren't currently a truly big club" is still met with "eeee lookit the delewded jawdee, he thinks theyuh gonna be a massive club" and so on. Boring for everyone, I'm sure, but perhaps if people didn't play fast and loose with sentiment it wouldn't be necessary.

To be fair that's an honest appraisal, for what it's worth,I think you will finish about sixteenth, going on what you've brought in,any injuries and you could drop, just can't see were you're going to get enough goals to finish twelth .

When was the last time your lot had a manager as good as Rafa? If ever.

I can actually taste the bitterness on here, actual name calling and all sorts, smacks of a small time lower league club desperately trying to convince themselves that hes not a good manager to make themselves feel better about their continuing plight.

You should worry about your championship safety, shite squad, pink seats and half empty stadium before worrying about whether a manager who's almost won it all is any good or not.

I look forward to the next 5 threads on the matter. And you wonder why so many mags come on here

No bitterness from me, just an honest opinion. Benitez is a big budget manager...he wins when he has world class players. DiMatteo won Champions League, not comparing the two but world class players make a difference.

Nah, can't see us finishing twelfth without strengthening up front and getting cover for Shelvey and I can't see us doing that in this window, with the market the way it is. That said, apparently Lucas Perez is available for £13m and I can only assume he's not interested in the move as we should be moving heaven and earth to get that kind of deal done. £13m isn't excessive, he's looked quality and so on. But then, we're a newly promoted side and he'll likely have better offers.

I'd be content with staying up even if we finish 17th to be honest. Obviously I want higher and the table could be as close as last year with 6pts separating 8th and 17th. I reckon 42 points, that could have us 14th, or it could see us down again... who knows?

FAO all the mags

Your Obese Messiah will be off to China the next decent opportunity he gets boomark it

You have to feel a drop of sympathy for the greasy, urine smelling, filthy, portly, unkempt, deluded, std carrying, beastly, flea dwelling, gimboid, winnet festering skunk geordies.

If he goes, who are they going to refer to as Papa?

Think the biggest problem for getting players like Perez etc,is that you're a north east club,we had it under Keano, most decent foreign players end up in London,it's not right but sadly that's the way it's going, still can't get my head around Abraham going to Swansea, because in my book they will drop this year, thought he would've joined you're lot surprised he didn't.

Just caught up with some Twitter shit. Looks like he's running a media campaign and airing his dirty washing in public.
Can't see Mike responding well to that. His negative comments are what Moyes was slammed for. And it worked out so well for him and us
I'm just waiting for the hammer to fall :)

It gets better

George Caulkin:

He 'can't' quit because under terms of his contract clubs would have to pay NUFC hefty compensation whether he was still employed or not.
They're papping their pants. ( even more than they usually do)

You don't sound very well educated Gipmaggo

He's also a very high turnover manager, something like 20 players in and out every season he was at Liverpool.

I really can't see Ashley putting up with that tbh and some of their players will be impossible to shift.

Rumours were that Swansea were happy to commit to playing Abraham a set number of games and were happy with the agreed fee, and we weren't. No surprise that Charnley and Ashley's "abrasive" lawyer friend Barnes couldn't properly negotiate a deal what a player that looks on paper ideal for our situation.

I really don't think location is as big a problem as it's made out on here. We're a few hours from London by train, ditto by plane. Not significantly more than Manchester or Liverpool.

And Newcastle city centre has enough shops, bars and Nandos to keep a Premier League player happy.

I think the biggest problem we face is that our isolation isn't offset by the wages Ashley is prepared to pay, or our competitiveness in the competitions. If we were challenging for the title and paying the going rate (I know I know) I don't think we'd have a problem attracting top players and if Ashley was happy to pay a "Geetfaraway bonus" we'd not have a problem either. We can attract a decent standard of player as it stands and should we survive, I'd expect us to use that more secure starting point to attract better still.
