Hardly likely Boro will get bigger crowds than Sunderland given the ridiculously high walk up prices there.Same prices this year as last in the prem where they were about the 6th highest to watch the worst team in there.Daft ***** running the club can't see that reasonable pricing means more support.

Of course Sunderland should get bigger crowds than Boro. Far higher population, free tickets as opposed to some of the highest walk-up prices even by Premier League standards, a longstanding Premier League club etc. etc. ... that said if it doesn't turn out that way there will be a few with egg on their faces from this thread.

I prefer The Championship to The Premier League for various reasons but the number of night matches in the 46 game slog isn't one of them. The feedback I get from the Sunderland fans I work with is that it's doom and gloom on Wearside but I'm sure your loyal fans will back the club to the hilt!

An interesting stat on attendances from last season would be how many home fans were in each stadium at full-time for every home game. Despite both teams being relegated I think Boro would win hands down on that one!

No doubt you would have but that was because, after almost 10 years in the wilderness, Premier League football was a bit of a novelty for Boro and the fans were going to enjoy it regardless. It was one relegation scrap too many for a lot of our fans, been there, seen it, done it, and from early on it was clear that Moyes and the players didn't have the heart for it which filtered into the stands.

It's only 3 years since Boros crowds dropped to 12k in the Championship so don't get too carried away. Your fans have proved they're quick to disappear when things aren't going their way.

In all fairness though you have to put into context. Our crowds dropped to 12k after spending consecutive seasons in the Championship. Our first season back in the Championship we averaged around the 20k mark, which wasn't that much of a drop from the previous season in the Premier League. You have to admit if you now end up spending consecutive seasons in the Championship your crowds could drop pretty low, not to the point of 12k crowds but certainly very low by your standards.

He'd get what he would deserve shite attendances. The mag situation isn't anything like our, they came down with hope and kept a manager everyone of them was falling over themselves to praise.

We got relegated after eight or so seasons of hanging on, with massive debts a squad that didn't give a fuck a piss poor dour kernt in charge and zero zero optimism for the future.

As for boro, they've spent massive, are favs to go back up and have been making all the right noises about ambition, it's piss poor if they don't not only match but beat our crowds next season.

It is and to be honest it's short-sighted by the club. Should be £470 the cheapest ticket which would work out at £20 per game, meaning matchday tickets could be £25, but instead they now they have to charge £30 cheapest matchday ticket to ensure new season card holders feel they are getting value for money. I have to say your prices are to be applauded. £70 for u16s is excellent.

Worth noting that we had sold 18000 season tickets by April. Before any big signings, new managers or declerations of intent from Steve Gibson.
