No more concerts at SOL

Having witnessed the total clusterfuck that Hampden served up on Saturday for a concert, I've since come to the conclusion that any stadium or venue with more than 25,000 seats is capable of hosting gigs without any need to plan or execute any plan. Queues an hour long for a beer, queuing for tokens for half an hour to then join the beer queue for 40 minutes. No reasonable public transport after the gig, no taxis, train stations that were as good as useless so no way of getting back to civilisation without walking for an hour.
I had a similar experience there last year, daft stadium stuck randomly in a housing estate in the middle of nowhere, with one shite parochial train station that wouldn't look out of place in thomas the tank engine to handle thousands of gig goers, so also had to do the hour plus march through the streets at midnight to get back to humankind.

The operational bar, if you could call it that, was what appeared to be a hastily errected wallpapering table stocked with plastic bottles of unrefridgerated boiling hot tennents like something you would see at a church fate.

we had no idea where we were going or even the correct direction. Our phones had died as we were trying to download Uber. Everyone we asked dismissed us and wished us luck as if that was any use including one black cab who stopped then turned down our fare because the traffic was busy (apparently) leaving us in the middle of the road. We ended up wondering through Govanhill and stumbling across a taxi at 1am.

I honestly think Shields could do a better job of hosting a gig. At least there's a f***ing metro!

I see the Celtic friendly has turned out to be a winner for the club judging by the number of tickets we have sold.
Compare this to the Ed Sheeren gigs for the Mags now on to 3 nights.
How much money has been taken out of the towns economy and how much had the club lost by trying to be clever and knock the concerts on the head.

I still cant work out how we were losing money for sell out gigs.
If anyone mentions hair how come the same bloke is now working at the national stadium.

Durham CC have made money on two concerts Rod and Little Mix with half the facilities and having to take down the stand as they were in the middle of the cricket season - the only place I saw it mentioned that he club lost money on the concerts was on here.

Good, I don't like concerts.

Not sure why not having a revenue stream is good news - and there's no requirement for the two to be at the expense of each other.

That wasnt really the point i was making. It was about the money the town is losing out on by not staging them along with the money the club is losing.
As opposed to holding a home friendly that will host 10,000 drunken Jocks and all the related drunken mayhem round the town on the Saturday of game.

It is proved the club has lost the revenue stream as they have pulled forward all the season ticket payments by a month.

I have read that Moyes is to blame and some fella has even used the installation of a parking regime

We need to be a football club first and last. I have not seen anyone walk away from a money making scheme or if there was money to be made that it was balanced against the upheaval which came with it. This obviously doesn't cut the mustard for us.

As for the Mags hosting concerts, the council as owners of their ground are hosting it.
