Benitez Future In Doubt Over Failure to Secure Key Signings

You had bottomless pockets 2 seasons ago but Rafa still took you down! Zero points against Norwich, and 2 points from Sunderland and Villa.....should have been sacked after that Villa debacle!
How can you type that shit with a straight face?

Honest opinion mate. Just dont rate him...i thought his tactics and substitutions were shocking last season. You got away with it as other rivals had a decent squad of 12-14 and you had a squad of 20-25.

38 pages on speculation about the mag manager. Hard to argue that were not obsessed when you see this turd of a thread.

They are our rivals. Wouldn't be much of a rivalry if the fannies on here got their way this all this "obsessed" bullshit and neither team talked about each other...

The Spurs match slightly alters those stats mind. Do you honestly believe a 10 man Newcastle would have beaten a Spurs team 5-1 a few weeks earlier? You may as well have been playing cones that day.

Take the no pressure exhibition match away and it's 10 points from 9 games. Which included your 3 relegation rivals.

He did ok, but to claim he didn't have time to 'save you' is ridiculous

The Spurs match where the 10 men of already relegated Newcastle United beat a Spurs team still going for second and aiming to finish above Arsenal for the first time in years? That Spurs match?

It's ridiculous to say that Benitez wasn't improving us, that given 18 days training without a match and then another couple of games against modest opposition (B'mouth/Stoke) he couldn't have continued his PpG and returned more than the zero points McClaren got from those games.

Before he joined us experts in the media said he's a manger that would make us a better team through training, coaching and in game decisions, but not a blood and thunder manager who would rely on motivational speeches to rally the troops.

Benitez is derided on here for one simple reason, he's Newcastle's manager. Had he joined Villa, say, and failed to keep them up, the opprobrium wouldn't be half as bad.

There's some on here who refuse to accept his trophied career, dismiss his impact on Newcastle and so on. Ask yourself, honestly, is Rafa Benitez a good manager, if the answer is no, ask yourself why you think that.

I know I won't change the entrenched views of some Sunderland supporters who seem to think that missing an opportunity to attack Newcastle United is a failing in their support of Sunderland, but rational fans can see he's a good manager, a manager who had he joined Newcastle before that January would have saved us from relegation and probably would have done enough to save us even if he'd joined a few games earlier than he did. He failed to keep us up, but I'd not swap him for Pearson.

He took 10 points from 10 games
No he didn't.

Wor rafa will never ever top pardews highest finish with you's. He also never took you's down
Maybe not, but he's not a **** so there's an improvement on that front for a start.

That season was anomalous for Pardew. He's reverted to his mean and is currently unemployed because of poor performances despite spending a lot. It seems, however, that that one season is the only thing Sunderland fans remember of him.

I guarantee few Sunderland fans would want Pardew now, nor would they have wanted him to take over from Allardyce, or Advocaat etc. Speaks volumes of your tenuous position.

Didn't lose a game ?
Played Swansea h - on the beach
Played Palace h - on the beach and only won as Cabaye missed that Penna.
Played Spurs last game who were mentally gone after losing league to Leicester.
Liverpool A - they were playing 2nd leg of Europa sf 3cdays aftervplaying skunks and played much weakened team. Still cud only draw.
Man C h - could nt win league, cudnt lose top 4 place. Soft game.
Villa a - say no more:D
If you're excited about that, good luck to you.

Did he lose any of those games?

Exactly, of course both sides are going to spend time discussing each other.

They've got an exciting season ahead of them, with a world class manager in charge (apparently) and lots of new players coming in and yet they infest this board - wtf???

Because the Chelsea and Everton games that are fondly remembered on here were played while those two were at the peak of their powers

Mags still chomping I see, keep it going girls this is passing my boring day!

I'll pop on the Grayson thread in a bit, I'll hazard a guess the usual suspects will be all over that thread.
