I do wish people would stop inferring that because it is the level down from the Premier League then it is somehow easier. It is not as Newcastle will no doubt ignore. They lost their first two (away to Fulham and at home to Huddersfield), they lost at home 2-0 to Wolves, lost two in a row against relegation threatened Blackburn and then Nottingham Forest (1-0 at home and 2-1 away), three games later lost to Sheffield Wednesday 1-0, and after getting revenge on Nottingham Forest lost 1-o away to Blackburn, lost 3-1 at home to Fulham, after beating Wigan and Burton at home they lost to Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 which was the first of three without a win as they drew 1-1 with Leeds and then lost 3-1 at Ipswich. They failed to do the double over THREE teams (Sheffield Wednesday, Fulham and Blackburn Rovers). They only got as far as Round 5 of the EFL Cup as they lost 3-1 aet to Hull City and got knocked out of the 4th round of the FA Cup to those giants of football...Oxford United. Their season wasn't as dominant as they like to think it is. Even given what they think about Saint Rafa of Newcastle.
We would be wise and prudent to look on next season with raised eyebrows. Just take a very careful approach to it.
