New livery scamera vans

Don't be f***ing stupid man.going down the cut at 50 in 3rd? There's 2 sharp bends bottom of the cut, no need to be hitting them at 70.multiple accidents on the A690 over the years.stoneygate, west rain ton cross overs.if it's 70, people think it's fine to do 80plus.no chance for drivers crossing to see ya at 80.
It's 50 for a good reason.

I have lived there for years, man. If some people weren't so f***ing stupid, the rest of us could regulate our own speed accordingly.
THERE ARE NO CROSSINGS ON THE PART I REFER TO. f***ing hell.

Alright then, 4th. Still raises NOx levels in the atmosphere. A hundred years from now I doubt the ozone layer will give a fuck if you went down the cut at 60.

Outed.
Stick to threads for your own kind.

Tits. Drove back along the A690 at about 70mph the other evening (was about 10pm so doubt any vans). Will keep an eye out for these new ones. Would I, or anyone in their right minds, fuck drive the A690 at 50mph at night. It's a dual carriage way. When the roads are empty it can be safely averaged at 70mph.

Cue abuse.

I see someone wiped out one of the lampposts a few months back. Not seen anything else.

What about the A1, then? Reduced to 50 for road works and then the 50 limit remained. a very safe road and in some place, 5 lanes wide!
At least it doesn't seem camera'd atm, so you can easily hit three figures after the rush hour @duff_man

First bus wanker of the thread?
The lamppost was wiped out by a mate of someone I know, he was driving like a nob.

Lets hope a ban comes winging your way

Yes easily, the problem is it's not often empty.

So take the one going down Houghton Cut, lets all sit on the brakes and drop it into 3rd, raise NOx levels for the kiddies living in the houses alongside the road.
Sounds great(!) At least it will keep everyone below 50. We will save and shorten lives in one fell swoop!

Just keep the road at a 70mph limit, it is perfectly safe.
You will never win this argument, cos motorists are sick to the back teeth of scamera vans hiding in places where they know people will stray over the lmits.

Fuck only knows how we would be anally raped if the camera revenue stopped.
Do you not think the motorist is overly persecuted and treated like a criminal in waiting?

I might have misunderstood mate so apologies if so, but you aren't suggesting 70 down Houghton Cut is safe are you? It would be f***ing chaos. You'd have the TNT lads trying to break the sound barrier.

I've just been done a few weeks ago. f***ing annoying but entirely my own fault.

What I find weird is the 690 is 50mph but Durham Rd from the Mill r/a up to East Rainton is 60. Seems daft to me.

I do think it's weird how the only people who get outraged at speed cameras are absolute f***ing mouth breathers mind.

Are you suggesting driving at 70mph causes less pollution than driving at 50mph in the right gear?

I am suggesting braking and dropping to a lower gear to engine brake, to stick to 50mph on a certain stretch of road does, yes.
NOx is a buzzword of the monent, and that is what is being created. In greater quantities.

I am probably wasting my time talking to someone who no doubt thinks a brand new 'zero emissions' Prius or some other hybrid heap of shit is better for the environment than a car that already exists, mind.

That is similar to what I heard, but I didn't want to risk offending anyone. Those type of people will crash on a straight road.
No doubt it is in the stats to justify the 'safety' camera vans being there, though.

The speed camera van isn't anywhere near the staggered junction though, it's in the layby about 1/2 mile further on up Houghton cut or they put it on the downslope of Houghton cut where you gather momentum with the severity of the slope. This forces people to keep checking their speed which in turn means they're not watching the road.

That one that parks on the downslope at houghton cut is the worst like, hard to notice sometimes that you've just popped over 50 as your going down that hill.
must make a fortune off drivers that aren't familiar with that road cos most would think it's a 70 if you miss the signs saying 50.

I'm just saying 60ish or whatever is fine. We don't all need to be slowed down like sheep, cos some are incapable of regulating their speed enough to round a bend.
 @ TNT. I can imagine!

It is all daft, there is no way the road you mention should be faster than the straight, open stretch of the A690.

Ah, so keep changing the speed limits every few hundred yards then. That will work well.and slap bang in the middle of the crossings are 2 sharp bends after a steep descent.yes, most drivers will handle it no problem, especially the ones who actually live on the road it seems.a driver not knowing that road going at 70+ could easy come unstuck. How many accidents does it take until you are happy to take another 2 minutes tops to get from stoneygate to carville?
