Not my cup of tea, but a nice initiative. It's a tricky needle to thread, if you ask me, you want something that represents the club rather than current players or managers, but you don't want something twee or saccharin. Also, I'd be curious to know if there are rules about the images depicted, I'm guessing they couldn't have images that could be described as violent, or provocative, surely there wouldn't be religious or political images permitted either.

Personally I'd have gone with images of the cityscape, the stadium, famous old players and managers, and that Bobby Robson quote.

I would have just had the current club crest centre, N U above F C below and a Black stripe either side, plain and simple, but the Bobby quote would have been nice too.

Which Bobby Robson quote?

"Please stop spitting on me"?

The gallowgate flags iniative is a good one - helping to bring back atmosphere when St James has been quite flat recently (even before relegation smart arses). Its a shame the club dont help a bit more with the fundraising. Even if flags do piss me off somewhat.
your lot shouldn't need some flags to generate an atmosphere. st james used to have an incredible atmosphere. nowadays (past 5/10 years) ive had farts more riveting. the only thing i can see thats changed is your league position. either that or the culture of the fans has changed? shame really. i dont buy into all these flag displays like liverpools sad act kop display, id rather see a sea of red and white (or black and white in your case) scarves held high with a club anthem belted out. i mean, a flag with shola and carl cort doesnt really inspire people ;)

"You'll do for me Bonny Lad"?

It was still shite when we finished 5th mate. Its a change in culture for sure. When i was a bairn it was deafening. Its almost like people are too scared to belt it out in case their mates with shitty haircuts think they look stupid.

To be fair we have had a few flag days and it does lift the atmosphere Why I don't know. When we had that huge flag that used to flow around the crowd the atmosphere was always good too.
Personally I think most grounds are flatter than they used to be, it's not just us, I just think it's as you say culture, more family's at the ground (I am now guilty of this).
