Did the shooter speak ?
if it was the 80's, his voice would have been dubbed, by an actor.

Did the shooter speak ?
The great advantage I would say Reiver is generally the 70s/80s lads were good mates with the generation who came after them. Despite all the alpha male nonsense, there was surprisingly little flak. I know that some of the old-school lads who ran a couple of buses from a well-known pub in Sunderland recruited some of the 90s lads to police their second bus after a load of hassle.Perhaps that's because the 'after 1990 lads' are illiterate
Being serious though I'd say that anything organised becomes less spontaneous ..... like the Palace Ultras.
Some of the characters, in the old days, were really off the wall tbh.
I'd love to hear about characters up to present but few seem willing to post.
Early 70's they had loads of blokes amongst them not just lads , be in no doubt that they were a right handful at RP in that era , over here early on , something we never did as far as I can remember .
As stated on the battle of bath lane , we went through late on and mobbed up by chance rather than design , as others have mentioned that was the day the tide started to turn.

The issue I guess on reflection was one of secrecy. I know you're keen to get a book off the ground but when the Two Tribes lass came to the Terminus with the same intention she struggled. She had to go well down her list before she found anyone on either side to engage. Perhaps time offers its own security.
Although I'd like to see a book , you've made a very good point about folk either wanting or not wanting to commit memories to paper , but the more I think about it , the suggested book has a minuscule potential market , to be fair the only people who'd want to buy it are possibly the contributors and a small amount of Sunderland fans and that's probably it.
I cannot see a widespread interest outside of this local area , I'd like to be proved wrong mind.
You have contributed the best stories ever. Unequivocally. But we would rather keep our mouths shut. No offense.I totally agree about the limited interest but books are cheap to produce and there are enough people happy to provide free stories & photos.
As the thread has shown people, who never realised they knew each other, have filled in details and confirmed events & characters.
Some of the photographs, although quite recent, look like images from another time entirely ...... IMO it would be a shame if these images, tales & characters were lost. They're part of the history of sons & daughters who followed on and, to a lesser extent, part of the history of the club and the area.
It wouldn't be a best seller, or even a big seller, but it would pull all the daft old stuff together ...... worth a bit of effort tbh.
