Who's still backing Moyes?

Moyes could not have done much more with the team selection last night, so I can't blame him for that.

He made a sub with half an hour to go, that was not enforced by injury, which is frankly amazing and might be the first time he has made a sub this early.

Reading all the comments about the injury crisis affecting results, what does concern me is we were disorganised and useless before all the injuries. Players didn't seem to know where they were playing, nobody was picking up players to mark defensively as it appeared we were playing some sort of zonal system. A high proportion of our goals came from unmarked players. In attack, we did not play as a unit, with each player seemingly doing a different thing. Those problems are still there, just with lesser players and a ready made excuse. Personally I don't believe it will be any better once we do get players back. We need the team to fight and close down balls, and be organised at the back. It is the basics that football is based on and really the Hull game was the only bright point where we have looked remotely like that. Either the manager needs to change the way he is putting teams out, or the manager needs to change.

Needs to f***ing go. Absolute shite and doesn't seem to be able to get the team doing the basics, like BSA done when he came in last season. Get the basics then work from there. They played some good stuff once BSA had a bit time with them and got them drilled. Now we just look clueless all over the pitch with hopeful punts up to Defoe in the hope he can do something with one of them (yet 90% it just goes to the opposition, yet we still persist).

Players don't even look bothered about Moyes either. Wanted him to do well here, but he just hasn't looked the part since day one and his signings have been f***ing woeful.

Did anyone look at our available playing staff and think we'd win this game? It could happen of course, football is a strange old game but come on, against a powerful, hard working, well organised side with a none too shabby home record? A side that's been several years in the making.

I'm afraid I have some bad news for you people. Very little will change until we get a few players back, and then nothing will change for a while after that because they'll be off the pace for weeks. Then not too much will change for a long while after that because the club is a basket case, we're suffering from an accretion of mistakes, years of them, like barnacles clinging to a hull they've finally made it almost impossible to rectify whilst maintaining our premier league status, the dry dock awaits us. Unfortunately circumstances dictate that whoever we place in what is an extremely hot seat the job to rebuild this club will require time, player churn to raise cash - reduce wages, plus a lot of hard work, and that's if we have the right man, there are no guarantees in professional sport. As I said months ago, it'll get worse before it gets better but take heart from the side that deservedly beat us this evening, they've shown the value of sticking with their man through the tough times.

The problem for me, and many others I would think, is that the man in question appears utterly disinterested in sticking through the tough times himself. So maybe we do have the wrong man, aye? As you say, the tough times are certainly here to stay and we're past looking for a saviour. But we shouldn't be past looking for someone who's willing to make the most of what's in front of him. Dugout Dave isn't the man.

My view also. He doesn't look happy to manage Sunderland. He won't be long term.

Seems like a lot of folk are getting upset after last nights defeat.....why its a cup game?

6 games ago everyone was saying if we can stay in touch till Jan then we have a great chance of staying up......we are 1 point from safety. No other team could cope with 12 first teamers missing even more so key players. It's up to Short to get a few players in otherwise we will be relegated with what we have.....that is clear as day

He didn't have to blow £5 million on McNair & love when he could've gotten Mvila for roughly the same price

Dealt a bad bad hand my arse

His transfer dealings have been woeful
Agree hank and this is my concern he's wasted the money he's spent on shite. Some will say Ndong is decent maybe but not convinced and certainly not worth the money we paid. Still not convinced by Moyes but who do we realistically get.

He's had plenty of time to be doing better. If his name wasn't David Moyes he'd have been sacked by now.

I like him but he's under achieving at the minute and he's not going to be sacked so we've no choice but to get behind him.
Couldn't agree more with your post Taffyduck.

Agreed. Just seen this mate. Perhaps we now have a chance to be a football club again, as opposed to being a gentleman’s leisure resort?

At the risk of actually adding to this thread, this is the reason it was bumped. post 118

So here it is ....
Got it.
