Magswonnowt. Remember his brother? Was a real heavy drinker, used to drink with the Bear at one time IFRC. He'd have 14 pints or so before the match.

That's Kenny- - a great lad.

He joined me and my mates a few tines for away games, but soon stopped doing so as apparently he thought we didn't drink enough!

I remember when Kenny was being escorted out of the ground past the home fans at Leeds, he reacted to their goading and laced into them. He got arrested, rather than just hoyed out!

Never seen him since in the yards on the tyne.Think he moved to Castletown

There's a pub near Liverpool Street Station that has exotic dancers on and is often used for meet ups. Was in there 92/93 prior to a match at West Ham and got talking to a couple of lads who had recently been over in Sweden for Euro 92. Seemed like they had a great time, especially with the ladies who apparently find lads from South Shields irresistible. However the fun stopped when they ran out of money. They hitched back as far as Rotterdam but then could not find a lift from there. A plan was hatched though. They made their way down to the marina and stole a speedboat with the intention of zipping across the North Sea back to Shields. Thankfully the Dutch coast guard managed to stop them by blocking off the entrance to the marina. However there was a happy ending as they were deported at the expense of the Dutch Government. Result!!

A crowd of us used to travel everywhere in a transit van ( no windows) just pile in - between 10 and 12 of us (maybe more) and gallons of beer. Had some crazy adventures. On the way back to Sunderland we would stop off in Micklefield in Yorkshire and get even more pissed, scrap with the locals, have a run in with the local constabulary and home. Great days. Talking here like late 70's

I remember coming out of the pub away to Birmingham and he was behind the wheel of a car being pushed by 2 lads from Barley Mow, with the help of two coppers......made me crsck up as Ray did'nt own a car then.
Last time i saw him was early 80's when i was catching a double decker Northern bus home after work and he was driving...asked him if it was nicked and then as i went went upstairs, he shouts out "hey Ces you still shagging that Irish lass"
cue everyone on the top deck looking up to see who was shagging an Irish lass.
He was always on about the bother the Gateshead lads got into on the stopovers on the way home from matches at Doncaster and Wakefield if my memory isn't playing tricks with me.
Went only once on the Gateshead bus away to Derby with Ray and Chubby....can remember the piss bag getting emptied on a few Derby supporters at a bus stop.
I loved reading all the stories on here and to all those PC people who try to derail good posts....back in the 70's and 80's it was a very different era.

The "Brown Ale bus"? From memory that was just a one way trip. We never managed to get home on that bus :) Left in Donny, too drunk to find the bus park.
