What a cracking read, been following this thread for a few days now. As a 25 year old lad from Peterlee, we often hear the stories that used to happen on Frankies bus from the older lads. Gutted to have missed out on them days.

Any stories on sunderland vs sunderland back in the day, sure i have heard of a few tales of the village lads having it with the townies??

Showed a few of the older peterlee lads some of the photos in the thread, safe to say they enjoyed seeing the photos. Keep it up lads, far better then flicking through facebook seeing what some f*cker is having for dinner.

Aye, there was often a bit chew between the Townies and the Yackers.

Worst I seen was after Norwich away, about 1980. Walking back to the buses some of Frankies lot were going toe to toe with a few Vauxies.

Nowt too serious but later that night one of Frankies lads had to go to hospital and it was found he had a fractured skull .

Hutch did you ever use to have a few pre match pints in the bowling alley late 1990's / early 2000s with AL and GL of Felling?
i did mate little alan

I went away with the Gateshead lads once. It was a mid week cup game at Man City.
We missed the kick off . I was sat at the front of the coach and got into an argument with the driver who didn't have a clue where he was going.
We could see the floodlights but he didn't know where he was going. Anyway we got there late and missed the kick off due to this Wanker of a bus driver. Btw I told him he was a Wanker.
Got to Maine Road, me and my mate, back of the Kippax, we asked a copper for the away turnstiles. He told us where to go, the place was deserted as everyone was inside. Anyway we paid in and went up the steps and over into the terracing.
Everyone was blue and white. We were red and white and black.
We were chased along the back of the Kippax and we ran towards our fans. We were kicked and punched and got to a big fence where the coppers shielded us they opened a door and led us into no man's land where they kicked Feck out of us.
They were going to arrest us but they let us in with our own fans.
Thank God.
I'm sure we drew 1-1 Shaun Elliott scored for us.
Great . Went back to the Gateshead bus and the driver wouldn't let me back on. He said if I got on he wasn't driving it.
Can anyone of you Gateshead lads remember that ?
Of course I offered to fight everyone and anyone you all shit yersels and the coach left without me.
So, Wednesday night about 10.15 pm marooned in Manxhester.
Just another away game.

g n ..c c ....put gateshead lads on map well the lads get it ...gateshead rail station would be choka 2 to 4 hours before a game at roker fact red n white everwhere of folk we never new inderpendant 70s mill view club blue bell made lots money off our predesessssseeerrrs years ago ..

Pretty sure I will have been there but don't remember that incident. The bus was nearly always late as we used to stop off nearby, and often it would be nearly half time when we turned up.
If you offered to fight everyone and nobody took you up on it, then Big Kevin cant have been there. He would have loved that ;).

I've been on a few coaches & minibuses when things have become heated but the 'organisers' would usually sort things out.

With the lack of sleep, the excitement and the alcohol it's not surprising things were sometimes fractious.

i cant but a few on here will be paitent for noo lets see who remembers that night .
I wouldn't

That comment was a joke. I was going off it when I was told I couldn't get back on the bus. I was making a lot of noise, I wanted to get back on the bus ffs.
Anyway it was a no no.

Maybe I wasn't there. Been to City loads and at least 3 of them were midweek trips, but dont recall that one.

Most of our drivers were spot on, usually had the same one for years. On the odd occassion we be lumbered with a stroppy twat, but a few quid in his pocket would change his attitude.

It's the only time I travelled with you. I was left in Manchester. I did call the driver a Wanker. He was. We missed the start of the game through him.
I can laugh about it now, I,laughed about it then. Not at first. A Wednesday night in Manxhester lasted till Friday tea time.
A happy memory.
