I've met some truly mad Sunderland supporters .....

Yes it is.

If you went with the Coxhoe lads do you remember Tommy from London? Bleach blonde skinhead with a stutter. He was originally from Coxhoe.

Thought so. Hes a right mad un but a great lad.

And aye i vaguely remember him. Also Yonty who's no longer with us. Terrible shame.

It still surprises me that the vile, violent, brain dead bastards who stole football from us in the 70s and 80s feel safe enough to post upon here. Most of the physical assaults that I saw them launch at away games contained far more elements of cowardice than of bravery.

Any ex-serviceman will know what I mean.

So why not tell everyone the worst example as you feel so strongly.

:lol::lol::lol:

This thread is f***ing outstanding like.

Probs already been mentioned but anyone there down Wimbledon that day when the kid jumped on the police officers motorbike and drove down the f***ing street on it

Incredible

I shit mesel when we were jumped, at the side of the petrol station outside the away end, but the adrenalin must have kicked in.

I couldn't believe I held my own then got the upper hand, it was like watching Bruce Lee

When I went to court I pleaded not guilty but there were loads of other Sunderland who were all pleading guilty.

One lad, from Shotton, was charged with assaulting a police officer called 'King' ...... an alsation!

When he was asked why he'd bitten the dog he said, "Well he started it, he bit me first!"

Uproar in the court

Spot on! The way they speak about those times it's as if they believe they performed some sort of service so that others could be safe to walk the streets around football grounds afterwards!

Agreed mate. They were a disgrace to the game, and the country often, and yet it's being romanticised as a noble or heroic thing to do.

There are some wonderful lads I've had the privilege to know over the last 40 odd years.

I'm at the stage where I'm wary of asking lads how 'so and so' is in case another good Sunderland supporter has fallen by the wayside.

The SOL minute's silence becomes more poignant every year.

Thread over.

Hardly, the appearance of the dreary brigade is predictable but harmless.

This thread isn't about violence or hooligans, it's about all sorts of lads who travel the country following Sunderland.

If some want to believe it's about violence, and get back on their daft high horse, it says more about them tbh.

I thought 'the Bear' taught Geography? Probably nicked the coat off Jimmy Hubbick! But he was only Deppity when I was there.
EDIT
Jeez I just looked at the date on your post. Never any good at History, mind.
The Bear was AB, Red house comp lad then drove a bus in Sunderland.Worked on a few doors last time I saw him he was on The Isis in Low row, that was some time ago.

was this the season @Reiver 0-0 draw 69-70

only one I can recall v Boro in 70s was 75/76, a boiling hot day in the Anglo Scots cup - we lost 3-2, the crowd was around 10,000 with about 500 Sunderland there and there was hell on.
Me and Dave - my next door neighbour at the time {whose elder brother was a bit of a hoolie then and who posts on here as The.......}were in the Clive Road end to the right of the seats as you faced the pitch. Boro were in too and there were sporadic fisticuffs. There was bother in one of the paddocks too, but dont think there was bother in the H.E.

I remember that name, didnt he knock around with Donno and Dougie Smith ??

You're thinking of his younger brother. Also known as Kansas.

Mint bloke, known him for years, but as PM, anybody know why he was called Kansas? this was asked in the pub a few weeks ago and knowbody knew.

I know/used to know his younger brother well. Allegedly called Kansas as when he was a bairn he wouldn't go out without a cowboy badge with "Kansas Kid" on.

I met Mackie on holiday in Majorca when the euros were on. What a cracking bloke.
As soon as he saw my Sunderland tattoo he came straight over and introduced himself and his family.
England were playing Italy and he invited me to watch it in a local boozer with him (the wife and kids didn't mind as he was so good with us around the pool and hotel - the kids loved him).
We had a great night talking about the 70's & 80's as my dad used to travel with Frankie Wheatley so I had a few stories I asked him about.
I like a drink but I spent one night with him and it's the first and last time I've ever pissed the bed......... Needless to say the wife banned anymore sesh's with Mackie.

I'm certainly not gonna stick up for any cowardly hooligans who did anything to anybody who didn't want a row, but you mention ex servicemen, and also mention the 70,s and 80,s. Probably when the prison guards and police force were at their most violent with their truncheons on prisoners and picketers etc.

Whilst servicemen like myself in 1990 got my head kicked in in Swindon; bit daft wearing a Sunderland top on the day we got promoted..........still, for a 10 stone lad I f***ing marked a few of them good!

RAF vet: NI, Gulf, Bosnia, SMB.

This response is one of the reasons my input on this thread has been minimal.
A bit of an over reaction there John. We were not saving the world just ourselves and our mates backs. Normally I wouldn't give the time of day to someone who posted a response as daft as yours but as an ex serviceman you obviously deserve one.
I note that Mr Jardine was quick to support you.
He's a bit confused because where you are likely to be an ex serviceman he likes to service men.
Anyway, plenty of servicemen have been involved in the shenanigans over the years.
Hope you have your football back now mate.

And if any of them asked you to repeat that to their faces you'd shit your boyfriend's knickers.
