I still don't follow the logic at all. Why should it be down to a sporting club to take responsibility for trying to promote the local economy? If there are spin off benefits from the football club doing well, great. But how many other private businesses would be expected to take into account the impact of their decisions on the local economy. The core business is football. That is what the football club needs to get right. That's what the club has seemed to lose sight of in recent years, pissing around with Nelson Mandela museums and concerts while the debt spirals and performances on the pitch stagnate.

And that's before you get into considerations like how much a Beyoncé concert actually benefits the local economy, or how many of the club's fans would consider themselves part of the Sunderland economy, etc.

How many of the executive boxes do you think are taken by the local economy, not to mention matchday sponsors ans hospitality? How many fans with season tickets are directly affected by it? But aye, let's distance ourselves from them.

it is amusing that people are critical of the club for not doing anything for the community and when they cut the concerts they think it is a great thing because a home friendly vs Villarreal (who i went to see play a pre season friendly with Everton whilst living down there) because it is likely to get us an extra couple of points.

Of course these people forget a Bains, Jagielka, Fellaini, Barkley, Coleman, Big Vic etc and some of those were at the peak of their career were all playing that day for everton and i suspect that is why Everton did well under Moyes.

Nice bloke, times I have met him. Did his best but seemed to be running down blind alleys. Africa, concerts, beach house etc
Maybe thats the way he was directed, maybe itbwas his ideas? No idea, but big changes afoot

the problem with "Africa" (and no it isn't the british aren't there as was once said by Boris Johnson) i thought was that people/football fans in africa are only likely to be interested in successful teams like they are in asia and the states. The other option was we have a well known african player play for us, now that player is unlikely to come to Sunderland and if they are are unlikely to stay long before moving on to bigger and better things.

Cant blame us shooting for the stars but we have came across as naive.

Oh yeah, if we could of kept Gyan we may of had a chance.
Doubt Gyan would have been enough to make a ripple other then in Ghana, the rest of Africa would still be looking at the big 4 and the Spanish giants.

If we actually weren't such a bag of shite and crept up the league we may have laid some foundations, but lets face facts who the fuck would want to support us in masses?

but when you bury loads of losses into other financial sectors of the business £2m is a farce and mags never told short the truth about any of it
the hair kept blagging the true situation

If this is the case then I hope to fuck that the FD is going get the f***ing bullet then. Cos if you are a director then you should never be a puppet - and to bury losses on the say so if Byrne then you were nothing more than that.

I suppose Gyan may of attracted other players to the club. But yes, successful clubs has more fans than less successful clubs, why is that? it is simple really. I think sunderland expected to mop up in an untapped market which is arrogance at its worse and naive at its best.

Because, the promoter (SJM) will pay the artist 80% of profit after costs, said promoter will ramp costs up to make a few quid. The venue will receive a nominal hire fee for hosting and will get the profit from refreshments only, whilst still having to pay bills and their own staff (and probably the Police).

And a "Commercial" director is supposed to have the boys to understand what these costs are going to be, and hence make sure the fee for venue & profit from catering is going to be enough to cover them.

Not only that, but they should be generating a great deal more than his salary to be fully justified.

He was a giver not a taker.

I'm not been disparaging so f***ing ban me if you want the same way you unjustly took my avatar rights from me.
I knew the kid and have an endless amount of stories. Thank fuck he's gone, he was an absolute fake in every sense of the word!

Just reveal man

He always impressed me massively in my personal and (limited) professional dealings with him.

Based on what? I've knew Hutchy many years and reason I was so vocal(raging) about him on here was because I knew how little he offered and what he gets up to behind the scenes. You won't realise but Hutchy is an utter prick and trust me, this club is well rid.
