19/11/16 - 5pm - Protest at the Murray Gates

The television money that we are getting this season should have seen a massive increase in transfer spending. You look at clubs with less infrastructure than Sunderland have pissing all over our transfer record for single players, and it just gets a bit sickening.
Like Everton who only bought Bolasie when stones had been sold or palace who only got Benteke when Bolasie had gone or Swansea who only bought Mowson once Williams had gone? Our problem wasn't the fact we had less money than the rest it was we didn't have a saleable asset apart from Kone and we didn't want to lose him.

So what exactly is the promise that short made to Advocaat? "I promise to buy quality" sounds a bit ambiguous, and Advocaat would have been an idiot to sign a contract on the back of it.

Never happened, he walked.

Gonna re-iterate here. Not protesting against Short, not holding him solely responsible, appreciate he's done a lot, but some of his mistakes have been catastrophic and he's not above question.

Part of that is buying complete shite - which isn't Short's fault and goes all the way back to Bruce, let alone the Italian conman.

If that was the real reason he quit, why didnt he resign as soon as the transfer window shut , and not wait until October ?

Wanting to at least make a fist of it? For the sake of the fans?

He was pretty much gone after Bournemouth away last year and that was not long after the window was shut

And we where way behind those squads and released something like 18 squad players on free transfers, for peanuts this summer alone. Our first team might not be too bad but our squad is weak as piss.

Bang on mate. Sick of hearing how palace spent 30m on benteke and showed us up. They sold a player for 25m, that's why they could. If we had bought and sold anywhere near properly, we could have snapped Evertons hands off for Kone, but we just couldn't at the time. Southampton are prime example of how to do things. They lost Shaw, Lambert, Schneiderlin, Wanyama and Lallana for big money, then replaced them for less, with a good youth system bringing players through and continue to build and improve. Exact opposite of us and apparently they have a DOF

Les Reed is their Sporting/Techincal Director, he's the one in control down there.

DOF done well, works as there's no power struggle and if a manager goes there isn't a load of unwanted players who the new manager doesn't want.

Because Moyes is a symptom of our troubles, not the cause. I don't particularly like Moyes - and wouldn't shed a tear if he leaves. But mark, bookmark, highlight, whatever this post. Even if Moyes was sacked tomorrow, and we by some miracle found ourselves staying up, we'd find ourselves back in this same position next year. This runs so much f***ing deeper than the manager. So while I have no love for Moyes, I would rather tackle the cancer at the root of the club.

Good - leave your bedsheets at home - just bring your voice.
Top post. Well said

The DoF model works when implemented correctly and most premier league teams have one in some form just not always called a DoF. Our problem was we tried to implement it while we were in the premier league fighting relegation and that kind of upheaval more often than not disrupts the team building process. Southampton Swansea Leicester and Bournemouth all put their infrastructure in place while in the lower leagues and away from the sky spotlight and their success is there for all to see.

Aye like its only Mags who protest I'm sure fans of Man Utd and Liverpool have recently even Arsenal

You's lads just sit back and blame Moyes for the mess the club is in
Everton were the protest winners last year, those lads know how to put on a show.

Really ? Maybe we should follow their lead hasn't done them any harm new investment and a manager with a brain
Could be right, those who are too cool to protest or think it's un Sunderland like havn't got the interests of the club at heart.

Strange how anyone wanting to show how rightly pissed off they are gets called a Mag. Any club in the world would have all sorts of protests going on after the past five years we've had. National and international papers write about our plight ffs but someone wanting to demonstrate against all the shite we get is a bedwetter and a Mag? I remember the on pitch and back of main stand demos regularly at Roker early 80s. Was that Mag behaviour too? Bedsheets and all that crap might be, but does that mean we must only suffer in silence?

It's not a bad thing to protest, but it needs big numbers and a clear message on what we're trying to achieve. Are we protesting against Short, Moyes, the players or a mixture of all them.

Spelling mistakes on bedsheets and fake funerals just make you look like a bunch of kernts. As does a small bunch hanging around outside the West Stand shouting at the SOL where Ellis won't be. Get properly organised and do something visually effective that gets publicity rather than this.

What suggestions do you have? I'm open to anything really - this was a suggestion. Personally my main concern is the boardroom, but if someone chose to blame Moyes or the players too I wouldn't argue with them. The whole club is a piss take.
