Therein lies the rub of it.

Nothing will change at Sunderland because a huge portion of our fanbase are too apathetic and lazy.

They'd rather be in the warmth taking their anger out on the internet.

Look at today's visitors. Hull City. At least they've stood up to be counted. Stayed away from the Allam embarassment and been active in trying to remove him.

Would never happen at Sunderland nowadays.

Whatever your views on the current state and if it's protestable, the feisty Sunderland crowd of old, that I remember, is dead.

It's sport.

Sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn't. It's all relative. I go to every home game as I support my local team, regardless. We could be in the 3rd division and I'll still be there. We are a successful team compared to most. So people can go and bitch on if they want, but I'm a grown man and it isn't for me.

I've no doubt I'll still be sitting in my seat in 20 years and we will maybe still be shit but such is life. Twisting like a bairn isn't going to make a jot of difference.

Fair enough. That's exactly how football has changed in the last 10 to 20 years.

Its just a day out now. Part of the entertainment industry. And that's fine. You pay your money same as me.

There are still some clubs whose fans will stand up and effect a change. Just not Sunderland. It'll never happen here. No matter how bad it gets.
 
Those complaining about apathy won't be there either ..... whining on the Internet is the limits of their 'actions'.

But in truth it hasn't been that bad. We've never finished lower than 3rd in the championship since what 1995? We've spent the 10 years in the top flight which I'm guessing for most of us is the longest time ever.

We've had trips to Wembley and some great memories. I'm in my mid 40"s and football is important, but not as important as it was when I was 12. If people want to protest then fair enough and there is a few things I would protest about, but being shit isn't one of them, as like I said compared to some we've never had it so good.

Aye am the same age.

Am just embarassed and I don't see any restoration of 'pride' in the current set-up.
Its the not being 'shit' angle. The club needs a full reform. Perhaps Bain will achieve it but I see little real desire in the owner.
And am buggered if am gonna sit on my hands if this season does as promised and turn into us 'doing a Villa'.

Having said that, a win today and we all go home happy again. So haway the lads.

I'm all for protests if they are done for the right reasons I just think the cause you've chosen is the wrong one and may as well shout at thunderstorms. By all accounts Short is actively trying to sell the club and no amount of huffing and puffing by us will speed the process up. He's not going to knock £200m off the price tag because some half cut spotty 20 year old son are blustering in a town that he's probably not in anyway.

Blame him for what? He's made some poor choices for "football" people to run the club that is what has cost us.

Our club has to be sustainable on its own. People saying short out should be careful what they wish for, just look at Portsmouth.

Leicester City proved that you can win the league with a minimal transfer spend. You need to buy the right players and have a bit of luck but it is possible without spending £100m plus.

In my opinion Short has invested enough money to where if we had used it wisely we should be a top 10 club. That investment should now be being recouped by our table finishes and better players wanting a crack at a European place.

I dream of the day when we have European nights at the SoL and I think we will get there if we can keep some stability and smart transfer business.
