Have any of us? Mind you, I'm often at the match with Tony B and too me , he has always looked the same. Tony, now there's a legend.....

Great thread !! Brings back some great memories. I love away games, always have, always will.

Looking at some of the photos I recognise some of the faces from the past. Even though I had no idea who they were, where they were from, what they did or didn't do. The only thing we had in common was our love of all things SAFC, we were all in it together. Best fans in the world, bar NONE.

SAFC til I die and FTM.

People go on about Millwall and Spurs but some of the worst days were at places like Bristol, Oxford, Wrexham, etc.

Was always the same mate late 70's and 80's. The big clubs with decent followings would often get a surprise from the smaller clubs. It used to bring the local nutters out in force.
All of those you mention and many more Plymouth, Shrewsbury, Northampton, Gillingham etc

Plymouth fan killed at Swindon and have been told by a few Millwall fans over the years that Swindon gave them a few battles.

Worse was travelling away some games without numbers.
Man Utd fans in with Crewe and Rochdale to name a few.......FA Cup going to non league Towns.

Going to football now is different.........

AB, The Bear, used to see him regularly when he was bus driving or on the door at The Isis . Red House Comps county shot throwing champ.
Is that story about him and the black lad that "led" the Sheffield Wednesday away Lads a true story, early 70s ?

I remember the "micky Walsh" game at Blackpool Feb 75 when we lost 3-2 and man utd were in with Blackpool in the spion kop. There was a meagre police presence and the fighting was unbelievable.

Went outside just before he scored, had a few running battles, we were singing "Geordies here Geordies there" in those days feel sick thinking about it, tried to get into Brian Londons club later he was on the door, you can guess the outcome.

That wasn't the Bear (if it's the incident I think you're referring to)

It was Tom P, who told me the tale a couple of years ago in the Bell. He's a great fella.

Not sure about that, but remember going in the Ozzie Owl club for a game against Wednesday a few weeks I think before the semi there against Arsenal we got talking to a huge fucker one of Wednesday's top lads, the guy I was with knew a few in there and it was good natured thankfully.

Man U had previously joined with us ontside Kings Cross, " Sunderland United" & that had gone well. Their home game was called off so they came to Blackpool, but they gave it the big I am & joined with Blackpool. Yes it was lively ;) ;)

Yeah and laced with amphetamines!

Tom P as in Tom P with the amazing sideburns. Used to also drink upstairs in the Blanford if it the same guy.

Blackpool holds bad memories. Visited there sometime in the 70's afterPreston . Unbeknown to us it was Scots week and Bkackpool was full of Jocks. Half a dozen of us got jumped by 2o odd Rangers fans just to add insult to injury after getting a good kicking a passing old lady started hitting me with her brolly!
