I know mate I agree. Got to admit I've been like that a lot recently and I'm so pissed off with the club at the minute, but the fans are the best thing about it and all that keeps me going to be honest. Love hearing all the old stories aswell, yous are all top notch.

Thing is you can be as angry or as peed off as you want about the team, that'll never overshadow the feeling of being together with Sunderland fans.
Why I don't buy into the crap they spout, we were there before them, and will be there after them. It's our club not owners or players, ours
 
Cracking thread. I can count on one hand the number of times we got away from London games without the Cops searching the bus looking for someone or other. :)
 
Just to maybe jog a few memories. I mentioned Micklefield earlier. A crowd of us used to travel everywhere in a transit van ( no windows) just pile in - between 10 and 12 of us (maybe more) and gallons of beer. Had some crazy adventures. On the way back to Sunderland we would stop off in Micklefield in Yorkshire and get even more pissed, scrap with the locals, have a run in with the local constabulary and home. Great days. Talking here like late 70's

Every town in Yorkshire would experience that at sometime or other. Our bus always stopped off on the way home, and I've seen massive bother in Wakefield, Pontefract, Barnsley, Leeds, Wetherby, Doncaster, Huddersfield and Sheffield.
Barnsley was the worst, made metro radio news on the Sunday morning, 50 of us with backs to the wall facing 200 angry locals. 16 nicked and black eyes all over.

Our bus would travel back from Sunderland to Mansfield and stop off at Wetherby until the polis banned us ..... then we started going to Adwick le Street or Darrington until that all went wrong :rolleyes:
 
Another all our yesterdays. Travelling back from somewhere by coach this time,can't even remember where! Stopped off in Harrow for a night out. Riots in the town. Some of the lads raided an off licence. Coppers searched the coach and arrested a few lads. Had to travel back down there to appear in court.

That was Vauxies after we played at Brighton, first game of the season around 78/79.
Gateshead bus was just up the road at St. Albans and I got bottled and put in hospital.
We laughed about it later cos the pub was called 'The Boot Inn'.
