They really do love reading this stuff.

You can just imagine them racing home and lapping these articles up while they tuck into their steak pie and mash covered in thick gravy.

FFS cant believe what i have just read!!! trying to justify their relegation by saying they have dropped into a great league with top teams, their delusional level has gone up a notch on this one. Its hit hard hasn't it, they wont achieve anything until they ditch this we're a big team thing and should be in Europe shite. Do they ever learn.

I really hope these pricks are mid table by Xmas and sack him, paying him millions and a team full of players on huge wages with no desire to be playing in the championship. Then they bring in little Dennis Wise...proper dwarfication

Nearly 5o years following Sunderland - living in Newcastle area most of that time - always read (past tense)the Chronicle and cannot believe how they have sunk so low in terms of journalistic rubbish. Even the last relegation they were not like this. No wonder local papers have lost their readership
It is a new chic style. Self-dwarfification.

"...and with a manager of the calibre of Benitez in the division......"

Yeah, he's in the division because in the two week (?) period following Newcastle's relegation no other club came in for Benitez. If any club of stature had come in for him he would have been off like a shot, but nobody did. So it was spun that Benitez had been deeply affected by the display of Toon Army love for him, and had pledged himself to getting them back into the Prem.

Spin that fucka, Chronicle!

Just took the piss out of the mag at work about this, he tried to argue back but it was a lost cause cos a couple of other lads joined in laughing at him, so he picked up the phone and had a 'conversation' with someone, when it was fairly obvious there was no one on the line.

Should have put this in my mag at work thread.

nail on the head there marra. The jordi nashun buy into any shit the chronicle or local bbc throw at them. The maegdia my arse.

Benitez didn't decide to swap the bernabau for burton. He was sacked for being shit and took the Newcastle job because he's getting well paid and nobody else wants him.

It's worked though. When he got the job most expected them to survive comfortably as all the problems were caused by Schteve apparently. As soon as it looked like he might not be up to the task it was decided he never stood a chance anyway and now their fans are lapping it up. Brave Rafa taking on the impossible task of keeping them up ready to lead them to Championship glory. If he fails it'll be Ashley's fault of course.

This all day

Does anyone know what the German for 'dwarfication' is?

This in the words of another cocknee heid wobbler would be "Triffic!"

He's a spent force who looked to keeping them up to resurrect his career but bottled it against Villa. I honestly believe that he's not got a clue about just what he's took on but is there as a do or die last chance.

The Ronnie Gill has gone full fanzine now, and a sycophantic flag-waving one at that.

There are actually some valid and interesting statistical notes hidden in all that bullshit, but not enough to write an article about without hoying in some utter nonsense to pad it out. NUFC, it's media lapdogs and its deluded masses are yet to come to terms with their status as a yoyo club, but there are chinks in the armour - the final sentence no longer assumes instant return to the top flight, and, to paraphrase: Aston Villa (Former European Champions) and Newcastle ( ________ ), is a lovely touch to try and make their point about superpowers being in the second tier (Forest cited as the other one, bigger than Burnley you know).
