Has undoubtedly improved us since coming in. We are better organised, have more tenacity and are fitter.

Where do we think he can take us next seasons?

What do you think his key strengths are as a manager?

Do you think that, as an ex-player, he is a better fit for the club, understanding the area and fans and therefore better at communicating this to the players?
 

Honestly, I reckon 9th/10th this coming season.

This escape is very different to all the others. Something changed in January imo (rather than the usual April/May winning run). The players are totally bought into his ethos and the work rate improved. If we get off to a decent start I think we could find ourselves mid-table all season.
 
I think if Sam gets the money he requires and the players he wants a mid table finish. Hopefully these stressful relegation battles are now behind us.
 
No idea where we'll be next season but I'd settle for finishing in the bottom half and being safe with plenty games to spare.
 
If all goes well he'll lay a foundation and turn us into a mid table club. Worth remembering if this happens he tends not to turn clubs into a European force. If we're lucky enough have Sam cement us, it's important we remember his limitations, give him a picture of a spitfire and thank him kindly for his service. Last thing the man deserves is pressure to deliver more than realistically he's capable of bringing to us, which would end up clouding over everything he's done and getting the boot on top of that.

West Ham went about it the correct way. Their fans did not and it detracted from all the good he did for West Ham.

I was interested to read he thought the first 5-8 games are key next year. A good start and we can begin to realise it won't be all doom and gloom and we might not be facing a season not spent in a relegation fight.

We will then have to remember this when we inevitably lose 0-1 at home to a shit side and get on his back. Patience.
 
Let's pretend we are in mags the mags world, easilly going to win us the league and it won't even be an upset like Leicester we are a massive clerb who deserve to win the league due to our 50billion fans and Big Sam is guided by Bob Stokoes ghost.

His strengths are that he can organise a team, is quite canny tactically and isn't willing to take players f***ing about. Also seems able to tow the line between commanding respect but also being able to look after the players.

Despite my misgivings about him (which remain), I do think that he seems a pretty good fit for the club and seems to have clicked with the fans, which is a big thing and can hopefully carry us on to better glories.

Great post. I do think they were taken as far as they could go with him. A bit like Adkins at Southampton, seemed harsh to sack him but look at where Bilic/Pocchetino/Koeman have taken them, they've raised their game a level. A really canny appointment at that stage would be so vital.

He has a bigger understanding of the machinations of football in the North East after his time with the maggots.
