Adam Johnson Trial Verdict

She is CEO and not responsible for interpreting or advising on legal matters. The Club retain London based lawyers who provide support and advice to SAFC companies. There was specialist legal advice taken and the actions of the Club were taken based upon that advice as the statement indicates. The scenario where Margaret Byrne seems to act completely independently and is entirely the driver for decisions and actions over Johnson's situation being painted by some on here is laughable.
Maybe. But as the CEO the buck stops with her

Minor, Juvenile,Someone under the age of consent but not really child unless you want to make what happened even more horrendous than it was which is what media and some supporters are doing.
Child

It's not even up for debate ffs

 And here's me thinking a CEO was ultimately responsible for what happens at the club. Particularly one with a legal background.

He could reply to a FB message requesting a shirt, and then arrange to deliver it. Giving a peck on the cheek when saying goodbye. This is probably as much as he admitted to at the time, and he pretty much said so in court.
Clubs can't control their players when they're not at work, but codes of conduct should probably be much more strict.

And by doing so would leave himself wide open to allegations even if he had done nothing....Who on earth would think that was appropriate in this day and age? If he had wanted to answer her the only thing he needed to say was that if she waited outside the players entrance on matchday he would give her the shirt, problem solved.

A 15 year old is a child.

That is why he has been done for sexual activity with a child.

A 15 year old child is obviously older than a 12 year old child, who is older than an eight year old child etc... But a 15 year old is a child, regardless.

What about if Byrne had told all this info to Short?

He wouldn't have grounds to sack her, if he knew it all as well.

Hardly seems implausible if Byrne did in fact know this information that she discussed it with Short. If so what will happen then?

if if if if

f***ing bunch of fannies on here like

Supposed fans cant wait to get stuck into the club , even though they havent got the slightest clue what went on

I'm not saying this is in anyway the case.

All I am saying is it not clear that Byrne will 'fall on her sword' because if she did know, then we don't know who else knew. I wasn't trying to suggest it was the case, I have no idea, but it isn't as clear cut as 'if it's found out Byrne knew she will 100% end up getting canned'.

What happens at the club...yes. What happens in an independent legal case...no.

But we're not talking about the case itself.....we're talking about how the club handled the matter outside of the court and before the trial.

The club weren't at trial here just Adam Johnson, they had nothing to be 'tricked' over. Why would they hand it straight back? They would need to absorb every word of those documents for their own safeguarding purposes. Absolutely inconceivable that they would not.

Had owt to do with the legal system? The buggers are slippery as eels.

You don't hire a brief to pursue the truth, you pay the fucker to get you off and handing over the papers suggested here lock stock and barrel would be against his client's interests.

There were no young adults involved in this case, just a 28 year old bloke and a child.
OK, we need to find ways to protect children approaching adulthood to behave in a safer way. We need to understand how their hormones effect their behaviour, and not act like they don't behave in ways that aren't suitable. When small children learn to walk, we have to teach them of the dangers they face in traffic for instance. We watch over them all of the time, and keep an eye on what they're up to. From puberty upwards their bodies, and minds are controlled by their hormones. All reason goes out of the window, but we as parents have convinced ourselves that we don't need to watch their every move. We do though, as this is as just a dangerous time for them as it is for a toddler.

I don't really care anymore tbh, AJ will be dealt with and SAFC will go on as they rightly should, the fans and current players can hold their heads up high - haway the 3 points today ! :p

She may be but she is not an expert lawyer in child protection matters and her criminal law experience is out of date. The Club took professional advice and acted upon it and it would be Byrne who made that decision albeit I'd bet my last penny that Short was consulted/advised before anything happened. A CEO may have the ultimate responsibility for a decision but they have support staff and retained expertise to ensure that all bases are covered.
