Adam Johnson Trial Verdict

No, they are in sync. It's not really measuring the competence of the minor, it's the competence of the adult.

Imagine you place all under 16 inside the 'line' and all adults outside it (as the law does) - we know that there might be some 15's mature about to be outside it, and some 16's who are immature enough to be inside it, but the law isn't really trying to stop minors stepping outside, it's to stop predators stepping inside. The law assumes a responsible adult knows never to step inside that line, regardless of how mature the minor is.

It's no different that the speed limit in that respect. Of course some roads aren't designated correctly and that the numbers are some arbitrary value that differs from country to country - but if you can't stick to the rules, you know there's a potential consequence.
Aye, so not in sync.

I 100 percent agree. The police wife looks awkward as owt on the telly as well. The arseholes want him to get 10 yr when people do things 5x worse and get less than half that. It's ridiculous really tbh

The question, no one on here seems to want to answer, is why the police sent their investigating officer to speak only to the BBC.

The convicted man hasn't even been sentenced, what's their hurry?

Is this good use of police resources to send her to London to give an exclusive to one small part of the media?

We can't just react because the press are wanting heads to roll, man. Where would that end?

Our hand will be forced, this has the smell of death all over it, too many shit stirrers in now.

Nothing to do with all of us, the decent majority, the press should show some f***ing respect and restraint.

Throw shit at the correct targets, wankers.

While that's true to a point, its the press, politicians, supporters, friends and family of the victim and sponsors. Cant sweep that under the rug.

Agree. Although I think the club as an entity has the stink of a corpse about it.

I think we are a superb mob, probably the most down to earth and accepting group of fans around.

Because of our gaffers we have allowed ourselves to become what we should never have been, and are now being bitten on the arse for it, there is a shitstorm coming imo.

True. They can't sack enough of them for me, but it still wouldn't fix the negativity which will, inevitably, dog us going forward.

I can't argue with that.

7 day wonder just ignore they will move on, silence is the best answer.
Thing is as fans do we really want silence? Or do we want conclusive proof that our club didn't harbour someone that they could have possibly suspected would go down for this?

I have few facts to support this but, let's face it, that doesn't seem to be a requisite for some people on here.

It's starting to appear as if the police initially went to the club in an attempt to pressurise them into hanging Johnson out to dry.

They seem to have divulged much more information than I believe in usual, or are now claiming to have done.

We're they hoping the club would sack him and leave him isolated? That would certainly have made their job easier and removed doubt in the minds of the public and possibly jury. I can't understand why the police are so keen to go to the BBC and, almost exclusively, talk about what the club knew.

Why aren't they, as they usually do, talking about the convicted person, the conviction and how it was achieved?

There's something that just doesn't smell right.

I didnt think that the police could discuss evidence before a court case, maybe they have scored an own goal here

So, she's basically in charge of the club as Ellis lives on a different continent.

How many fuck ups have happened during her watch?

Ji playing while not being signed (got away with that when others have been docked points in the past)

Not realising we'd signed a contract to sign Alverez then f***ing up and being left £7 million out of pocket with no player to show for it.

The way she handled the Johnson case

These are just off the top of my head.

Maggie or any of your representatives, if you're reading this, you're useless, you haven't got a clue how to do your job, get the resignation in you arsehole and then please fuck off.
We got away with the Ji case, because it was a different misdemeanour, and the FA were as much at fault as us. It also wasn't her who forgot to send the extra bit of paper.
The Alvares case is not final yet, though he has been declared a free agent from both warring clubs. As yet we still owe nothing on that one until a judgement is reached, but don't let that get in the way of you're rant.

We didn't get away with the Ji case, we got fined. We've also been fined and warned over using dodgy agents.
