I like McLaren from his Boro days - brought us our first (and yes only) major trophy, BUT one thing about him , i always found that no matter what drubbing we suffered , or no matter how boring some of his formations/tactics were he would NEVER admit that he'd 'got it wrong'.
It'll be fantastic to see you lot going head to head with him in The Championship next season.

He's definitely 'fragile', the grinning and desperate bluffing in his interviews isn't fooling anyone. Thank fuck for big, robust, 'dour', Sam.

This...most managers when they get hired give it the big'in and tell the fans this is a massive club etc and he really over sold himself back then..however as time goes by he's still trying to do the same and tell everyone we'll are fine/unlucky/best fans in the world blah blah blah....to a point now where it looks like he trying to convince himself.. which looks and sounds very strange...

poor old steve, I have been giving some thought to the 'grinning at interviews' question and have come to the conclusion that he has a congenital flatulence problem, if you watch the way his face sort of lights up and that 'cheeky smile' appears, it reminds me of my 8 year old nephew who drops the odd silent but deadly one out in company then gives himself away with precisely that sort of self satisfied smirk.....

He keeps making these daft statements doesn't he ...... judge me after 12 games, we're making good progress, the players are getting fitter, blah blah blah.

As you say his clichés are his downfall but he just doesn't learn does he?

Didn't someone say a while back he's got some Psychologist on the staff who is very big on positivity and upbeat messages regardless of reality?

He's weird like, supposed to be a good coach but I don't know how a player is supposed to have respect for him to even be motivated by him or even take his tactics seriously. I think his grins during an interview are to try and show he's not under pressure but not considering it makes him look like a idiot who doesn't care to the fans.

I'd say the Newcastle players are at the stage where they don't listen to a word he says and try to sort things out themselves on the pitch - a tall order in the premiership but they have some good players so maybe they'll scrape by . The longer McLaren stays, the better for us ....
