Jermaine Defoe - Poorest signing in recent memory

The OP needs to get to Specsavers for some of those massively thick bifocal monster glasses. seriously though - what the fuck ? (give your head a shake ffs !)

I stand by it. He's had a good two games against two dreadful teams, but more importantly it looks like Allardyce has finally found a way to fit him into the side.

Stand by the view as for his first year here we couldn't play with hin in our side, we had no idea how to. Three managers couldn't, which made him a poor signing.

And as I've said, from the first day I posted it, the title was poorly phrased and over the top.

But nobody dare argue the points I'm making, as they aren't clever enough to.

Well it's not - if a signing disrupts the team, as he done, it's a poor signing. Until the new year, his impact has been negligible tbf; last two games he's been spot on and hopefully it means Allardyce has found a way to play, rather than hitting the kind of hot streak he always has in his career. If it lasts and we continue benefiting like so, then I'll hold my hands up and say he's turned out to be a good one.

Unlike many on here, I'm not going to change my whole opinion on the back of two games.
pull yourself together man you clown. I think its time for a new username son. You will never live this down.:lol::lol:

Maybes it does. But it still made him a poor signing if we signed a player we seemingly couldn't fit into our side at all (and actually disrupted) .

If we've now found a way we can, then fine, I'll admit I was wrong. But I'll reserve judgment and at the time of the post, the overall sentiment is spot on (even if the title is ott)
You made a mistake. Move on.

After how many goals do you retract that the statements that he's a 'genuinely, catastrophically awful signing' and that he's 'four years past his (pretty average) best'?

Do you still stand by those opinions?

The first one - no. It was ott, like the title. He's been a bad signing though and represents the lack of clear thinking and planning at the club. That we (might) have found a way to work with him now doesn't change that it was a signing made without any thought, which was what a director of football was meant to be all about.

The second - yes. His career goal record is alright, nothing particularly special and he's rarely had a truly special season (I think there's one standout for Tottenham, maybes 09/10). And he is past that best. A good couple of games doesn't change that. He's always been a player who hits streaks and scores in clusters.

You might want to give up football, it's obvious you don't have a f***ing clue what's going on.

You're either clinically insane or on the biggest wind up ever seen on here.
Either way you know fuck all about footy.
