I live near one. Believe me there isn't.

I think you may be surprised. There are quite a few people in Sunderland and the surrounding areas that would shop in a John Lewis.

I'm not toot the tramp mesel but I've niver bought owt from the one I live near ever in 28 years. Full of Val Doonican cardigans and Miss Marple tweed jackets.

But they sell decent gear at really good prices. Best settee I ever bought came from John Lewis. Still great after nearly 20 years.

I don't doubt people would shop there. I even know someone who gans to the one in Newcastle regularly. But the last equivalent we had didn't survive. I'm not convinced another would.

:lol::lol::lol:

It's not Harvey Nichols.

If there was a decent development of retail that allowed Sunderland people to shop there rather than the Metro/Newcastle it may stand a chance. But you are probably closer to the truth that it would fail rather than thrive.

Neebody shouts Sunderland's case more than me Harry. But I dinnit let that blinker me.

Binns was a brilliant shop mate.

Silver Service restaurant, amazing deli counter for back in the day, proper department store.

Had a little tunnel running between the two buildings.
Aye? I still think its a bit daft to say cos a department store shut down 20 years ago doesnt mean a new one wont work out mind.

I'm not sure I've ever needed to go to either tbh.

You say that, but marksies food hall is always busy when I go in.
Aye, the rare time av been its been full of pensioners spending like its going out of fashion like.

Unless I was just wantin to pick summit up as I was passing I would just go to the out of town supermarkets tho.

Reckon they should turn the nisa shop at herra into one of those mini waitrose or M&S. Would do a roaring trade in that part of SR3 imo there mate.

What with all the money around those there affluent parts? :lol:

I'm starting to dislike the Tesco garage immensely so I'm all for it like.
