Agreed. Although I would hold both short and advocaat responsible and congerton as well.
In fact I find it impossible to believe these type of conversations haven't taken place.

Clearly but then I guess Shorts argument could well be why are you signing players that aren't quality. We have signed 5 players who the hell is agreeing to that?

This. I wouldn't expect Short to say here's x amount, go and spend it. I would imagine they discussed the level of signing Dick would need and Short agreed though.

Yes we have signed them. Budget permitting. Your not going to her quality at 2-3m level. That's DA point.
 
Ellis, Lee and Dick will of had plenty of discussions over the last couple of weeks about further investment in the side and I am sure Dick will of made clear that if the investment is not there he will go and I wouldn't blame him if he did.

saying that Short is not stupid, he will know that our squad isn't the best and needs quality, everyone can see that. From Short's point of view does he back the man he trusts (he must to of got Advocaat to stay on) in the remaining few days of the transfer window to improve the side and get us away from the relegation zone and in return reap the rewards when we stay up. Or does he keep things as they are and hope that what we have is enough while also risk losing a manager.

It is far too much of a gamble for Short not to invest.

Well you can but it's a lot harder. De Guzman is going to be just over £3m. Joe Gomez was £3.5m plus add ons. Yannick Bolasie was £440k for example.

We just don't do it and that means we've hardly every got any players we can shift on for a decent profit to then reinvest like most other clubs do.
 
If big dick walks that will be the biggest mistake ellis short has ever made since he came to the club - and by hell he has made a few. Advocaat knows whats required to stabilise this club and move us forward. If he leaves we are a rudderless ship without a captain ( and i am not talking about john oshea ). Crucial few days now !!

So don't sign them then. Clearly money is limited although whether anyone was aware of that seem up for debate. so prioritise what money is available on the quality players.
Plus improve the scouting set up a system for the club and sign players that fit it.
We signed Buckley last summer while Swansea signed montero that's the kind of difference.
