Dicks future in doubt again

I think Advocaats mood at yesterday's press conference may have been darkened by yet more negative news on potential incomings. He's presumably in regular contact with Congerton and unlike fans who are hanging on every word of 24hr news threads on the Internet he's getting the latest word from the dof's mouth.

Imagine just prior to taking a press conference he's received an update from Congeton which said ... "You know player X and Y we spoke about, both of whom are good players and would improve the team? - well they've both knocked us back.

Unfortunately, I reckon you will be spot on

Ellis isn't thick FFS, its basics. Either we get better players or you'll be funding shit loads more debt next season, stay up and we get bumper deals for 3+ years and you can reduce the debt your supporting. For the sake of £20m we could make an extra £80m+

He must be a gambler based on the business he was in, or at least a calculated risk taker. The risk here is worse if you don't invest.

I get he's trying to push Ellis to spend more but can't he do that privately? This just causes yet more negative headline around the club
He's probably tried it privately and this is his last card to play.

Credit to him. He's got nowt to lose and is trying to do something good for our club and move us on. If Short has seen Lens and M'Vila play he surely needs to trust in Dicks other suggestions that he will have put forward! Love Dick me!

What if he has seen Coates and Kaboul play?

I believe it's more a fact that people don't want to come here than Short won't invest. He might be scared of paying over the top wages for players and if a relegation clause is built in the players could be looking at either a drop in wages or if they are lucky a move on similar wages next season.
If Short was fully committed to investing what we need then it should have all been done as early as possible, a bit like the Germans do, not piss farting about a week before transfer deadline when as a club from the outside we are a complete mess. No player with a half decent reputation or who has other offers will come now, so our only option is to look at younger players with good potential but we are also shit at bringing them on as well.

It's just typical Sunderland we now have a manager that really knows his stuff and we won't give him any money. The previous numpties wasted fortunes on dross.

Stoke have signed 12 players and broke their record tbf. I think Bournemouth have broken there record multiple times this window too, Swansea don't need to spend they've worked the window very well with a few freebies that would be in our team without issue.

Swansea have a very good squad
Stoke are a mid table side but loaned really well and are building
Bournemouth look a good side and have demonstrated they play football and can get results
And are in the market for decent player like de Guzman
Villa are spending the Benteke money
Norwich will go down if they don't spend

Are you happy with our squad ?

Probably Congerton trade-offs following decent money spent on Lens

Let's face it, we all thought Coates was worth a buy after the last 6 games of the season and for only £2m. Kaboul will have been Congertons back up plan to Lombaert who Dick will have wanted

Stoke have also sold two of there best players. We have signed 5 players.
What was Bournemouths previous record?
Then maybe we should start working the window well either freebies.

Not really no.
I don't disagree with much of that post but most of it isn't down to investment.

Could be mate, but it's hardly gonna inspire his current players.
What else do you do though?

He's a winner and he knows what's needed, he wants two to three players then he can retire with stabilisation of a PL club on his CV.

Or, he walks as he doesn't want to drop dead with the stress of a relegation battle.

Nobody knows what's going on in the background. Why do so many people believe every word that the papers print especially the negativity?
