This transfer has some similarities with previous deals like Papiss and Sissoko. I think even Cabaye was linked with Sunderland before they signed him.
I really hope that this time we really have an interest and he ends up alongside Catts.

I'd imagine every single player either club buy is hawked to the other via their agents. The mags always try and make capital from it.

it reeks of this if I'm honest. They really must have a propaganda department, every signing is joining one of the biggest clubs in Europe, every manager has always wanted to manage them and if any player goes somewhere else, that club is obviously their second choice cos Newcastle weren't interested

I've not seen too much either but he looks a good fit for that Dutch style central three. However I'd be extremely surprised if the three also involved Downing. And I'd be disappointed if either of them were out on the wing tbh. It's surely one or the other between the two players.
