Despite what someone else posted below yes it was. Fans rioting or charging towards each other inside or outside grounds happened thousands of times with all clubs involved. You just have to read about some of the away trips on here to understand that. On this occasion there was tragic consequences.
You're comparing chalk with cheese. Yes fans fought but that wasn't the only point I was making in my original post.
"He said he was totally disgusted by many of the Liverpool supporters and that their behaviour before during & after the game was atrocious. They were openly looting shops, walking away from bars without paying bills & boasting about gaining entry without tickets."
Liverpool were notorious, even in those mad times, for being out of control in Europe.
Even the bad lads who had fights, such as Spurs, Man Utd, West Ham etc, weren't known for the looting etc.
Liverpool supporters, at the time, openly boasted about their behaviour.
There were other clubs, such as Ipswich, whose supporters earned nothing but praise.
