Exactly... gomez post strike and rebound last game was a prime example... any striker worth his weight makes a lunge for that in wicks spot. Instead, he bunny hopped in place the threw his hands in the air and made a shit face after ball went past him. He was irritated with himself for not timing it and making a lunge but to be fair, you can't teach instinct.

fair point mate, good post.

What I would say is that I think he lacks intelligence and to a certain extent talent, I still think he works hard in terms of running and mile covered on the pitch, I think the points you make are valid, but I think he tries he just isn't good enough to know what to do yet, or when to do it, or maybe he just won't ever that have talent.

What he does have is pace and power, and he should play, I thought we missed him badly against Hull as it allowed them to keep the ball higher up the pitch without the threat of Wickham pushing them back, it is why I would of played Buckley.

The lad has potential, I am still unsure whether he has the ability to ever really make it to the top level, but his physical attributes will keep in the top flight IMO

Agree with all of it. I think part of it has to do with his time in Ipswich Town and to some extent Sheffield United where his pace and strength could cover his deficiencies. He was able to at time dominate the opposition. What we all have to remember is that in the Premier League, the players are elites of the world and NOT just UK and their level far exceeds the competition he faced when he was 17. He does have potential and like all good strikers a bit selfish with a mentality to shoot first and pass later. I think someone if not Poyet needs to sit him down and tell him the importance on movement without the ball and even if he improves on this one trait, he can be much, much better than he is now. He can learn this, and is not something you are necessarily born with. I have been overly critical of him not because I loath the fella but because I care for the team deeply and know he can contribute more than he is doing right now.
