4 things stand out for me this year alone.

Man Utd away, yes it's easy to be a fan when your 90 minutes away to Wembley but we were fantastic and vocal for the full 120+ minutes.

Wembley the whole weekend again we were class and the numbers that were down on the Saturday night must of been 10000+ In Covent Garden and we were superbly well behaved.

Southampton being 8-0 down the support still didn't boo the players and still sang.

Palace despite the previous away game to sell out on a Monday night game in London that was on TV was again fantastic support.
Yes your absolutely right about it being easy to support when your so close to Wembley, but we took the same/equivalent support in the 3rd division and in the Premier League when we pretty much had no hope.
Biased you bet I am, but me bias is based on fact.

Is this a dig at the fans?;)

Good post marra.

The amount of people that went to Man Utd away in the league is the biggest positive point for us as a fan base in recent times

When that game's ticket application deadline closed we were rock bottom, 6-7 points adrift and hadn't won for ages. We were all but down and this was to be our final away game in the PL for at least a year.

To still sell out was fantastic - the fact those fans then got to see us pretty much complete the great escape with (another) historic away win at one of the big boys was fitting rewards for such loyal, dedicated support.

A fan from another club paying tribute to our magnifcent supporters

After putting yesterday's obvious disppointment behind me, I felt I had to put something in writing regarding an unbelievable day yesterday.

Our stadium announcer said it all really when he called out the attendance and quoted Sunderland's 8,132 fans as the biggest away following ever at Oakwell. The support was simply unbelievable. The volume and passion that oozed from those fans deserve the succes that is certain to be around the corner.

There was AT LEAST hundreds of Sunderland fans around me in the Barnsley end, and they behaved impeccably, respectfully and were full of fun.

Sunderland is often overlooked as a big club, well in my mind they should not be. There is no other club other than Man Utd and Liverpool that could ever bring that level of support and they would not show the same passion.

Well done SAFC and their fans.

On the pitch was different. I could sense Sunderland weren't really at the races and Barnsley were digging in for a point. You can see why SAFC are doing well. Their 1 touch football was a joy to watch, even if the final ball was missing in the end. Overall, their cuperior quality shone through and although I was proud of my Barnsley's effort, I felt we could have troubled them a bit more.

Nevertheless, those superb supporters who turned the day into a carnival, made it a memorable day for me despite the result.

I have witnessed Wednesday, Sheff Utd, Tottenham, Newcastle, Man Utd, Liverpool etc all at Oakwell, and none could match your support. As I am sentimental, as a passionate fan myself both home and away, I will be cheering you on for the rest of the season.

Well done SAFC and good luck.

but....but....but.....some of our fans leave early...

And yet some still chose to have a dig to get replies and responses on a football message board. Because let's face it that evidence won't make him change his mind, he doesn't work on evidence

The most Balanced View on here if he does say so himself. Apparently he's a decent lad in person, but I can only go off here so I try to avoid him as he's an utter bell on here. I don't mind having a good old argument with anyone and I can be quite stubborn myself, but with him there's generally no point whatsoever. He sees himself as some kind of visionary who can see things us mere mortals can't. Facts and figures can't match his opinion, even when you prove him wrong....

I can only go off here too, and on here he is just a wind up attention seeker. I agree 100% about having an arguement/debate it would be a boring world if we all had the same opinion, and so I like good discussion too.
I can't get me head around someone being arsey and pissing off people to get attention from the fans of the same team he reckons he supports.
