Where did that come from? Just been looking atnd Carroll passed his medical in June last yesr before any friendlies were played when he was moving permanently to west ham, and when he joined on loan the year before, Liverpool's American friendlies had finished before the loan fee had been agreed.

He also looked thoroughly pissed off in both the game and the airport photos. Possibly being made to do as he is told until all details are sorted.

Also Downing played all preseason, was told was part of Rodgers plans, placed in starting 11, West Ham bid 6m and sold.

Although the Carroll part was incorrect, Rodgers does have a habit of keeping players with squad until theyre gone.
