Where's your sense of patriotism and pride? The history of England as a nation is immense, something to be proud of. Just because we don't win, play shit football or the manager doesn't pick the players you want, you say you lose interest? Still fuming over last nights results and seeing people on here not bothered is ridiculous tbh. Sunderland never win anything either but we still watch and support them every week no matter what!!!! What's the difference you miserable bastards?

I was buzzing when we scored against Uraguay and then didn't really care when we conceded again. The minute the match was over I was more concerned about what bait I had in the house to scran when I got in. That's just how it is.

I did enough of that last night, managed to calm down today thinking the impossible could actually be possible (blind faith) only to start stewing over peoples comments on here. Like @Maximus said the club v country thing is a joke. Support both
 
Try living in N. Ireland and supporting England.

ABE is all I hear FFS. Its casual accepted racism. Never stopped supporting England though. Even when my parents refused to buy me England tops (ones a scot the others irish). Born in Sunderland, English till I die. What doesn't kill us makes us stronger.

I think it's got to the point where people have lost all faith in the national team, I have, until they get rid of the so called star players and get a grip.
 
I watch and support the national team but couldn't give a fuck about last nights result or if they go out of the World Cup.

They might be the "best" we have to offer but they aren't world class players, I'm old enough to know now to never let myself get carried away in major competitions as we always do fuck all.

Patriotism and pride?


The players present and past (Terry et al) bring shame to the nation with their ability and/or general behaviour in life. I'm not proud of them one bit
 
I would consider myself to be incredibly patriotic. BUT in terms of football I care far more about my club than my country. I'll always watch the England matches and cheer them on but it doesnt affect me anywhere near as much when England lose as it does when Sunderland do. Does that make me less patriotic? I dont think so, just my emotions have their limits. I can't handle having more than one football team tearing them apart game after game. With England I'm more of a realist and head rules over heart.....I didnt expect us to do much and we didnt so I can accept it...... with Sunderland though heart rules the head so more often than not I'm left in tatters.
Each to their own though, if you want to put as much heart and effort into supporting England then good for you.

I never expected us to win it, but to at least make it out of the group or at the very least manage a draw against either Uruguay or Italy. Uruguay have a population of 4 million ffs, the same as Scotland!
