No, he is still a liability and until he has a full season of avoiding these brain collapses he rightly should be nowhere near the national side.

I can't believe some think he couldn't do a job for England if used correctly.
Wtf is International class? Ppl keep hoying this around but what exactly is it?
As mentioned we've got players like Tiote playing at the World Cup and not looking out of place. One of Hollands most important players is De Jong, who is a very limited player and probably more undisciplined than Bazza Cattermole.
He plays week in week out against teams that would wipe the f***ing floor with most of the showers of shit at the WC.
Dismissing people because they play for little old Sunderland or don't score enough(when he wouldn't be expected to anyway) is one of the reasons we are in this mess.
When you cap players the standard of cleverly then it's absurd to say a fit Cattermole, playing like he did end of season should be no where near the squad. In fact its ludicrous, but so typical of some fans in this country.
I don't think we have an English player in the top flight today who, when on his game, can match his commitment and drive. Those who watch him week in week out know exactly what I mean. And he can pass a fking ball, it's a myth he can't...
His problems have been discipline and injuries. When on form he wouldn't be out of place in that squad. We are England not Germany, Spain or Argentina.

aye 16 caps, captained them.
Now that Gerrard and Lampard are over the hill we certainly need to look at new options. We have plenty of attacking midfielders; Wiltshire, Barkley, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Henderson is more of a sitter but isn't a tackler.
We certainly need someone who can mark up and tackle to give the team balance. Catts could be the new Nobby Stiles

Sounds like Steven Gerrard.
Gerrard's performance last night was like one of Cattermole's poor displays where everything goes wrong for him.
Outpaced, misplaced ambitious passes, a reckless challenge and an error leading to a goal.
So was Cattermole for 90% of the season.

He was in form in the back end of the season, don't see why he should have a full season of form when it's only 7 games and all that matter is the form you're in at that time.

Playing Gerrard and Henderson so deep was the problem, the tactics were as twatful as I've seen for an international team.
That's why I said IF we could get him playing at his best week in week out. Yes it's all ifs and buts, but half the squad are poor when not in form.
At his worst I agree, shouldn't be near the squad. At his best we don't have a better defensive midfielder and if we do please name him.

I agree, he isn't the quickest of players, and he's got a penchant for getting yellow/red cards, but I think he would have been brilliant playing just in front of the back four, certainly against Italy and most probably against Uruguay as well... I think some people forget he's only about 26 and has represented England at pretty much every age under 21... What Hodgson should have done was pick his best team not his supposed best players.
He has got to prove to the manager that he can be trusted, a ten game stretch at the end of the season wouldn't be enough to convince me. He needs to show that the stupid errors where he falls asleep (Hull, Villa etc) are gone and that he wont just lash out when he gets annoyed (Hull again).

Cattermole is only shit when unfit and returning from an injury. Unfortunately he hasn't been injury free much over the last few seasons. We saw what he was capable of at the end of the season when his fitness peaked.
I agree with this, he does need to do it for the whole of next season and not capitulate when having a shitter.
I like Cattermole and really rate him, no one on here needs to convince me of his talent, I know he's a good player. Just don't trust him yet.
