I think he's moved on a bit now and is learning to curb his instinctive ways better than he used to.If Catts was given a specific marking role on Pirlo he'd probably have been sent off.

Disagree, I thought we kept the ball well alst night. The problem (or one of them) was a lack of bodies in the middle of the pitch. IMO Huddlestone doesn't cover enough ground to have made much of a difference in there.I fully expect to be torn apart for saying this, but I think we needed someone like Huddlestone: keeping the ball and using it well was a bigger flaw right through the match.
f***ing hell we've hit a new low...
What on earth could Cattermole add to the English National team?
Huddlestone was the big omission from the squad IMHOI fully expect to be torn apart for saying this, but I think we needed someone like Huddlestone: keeping the ball and using it well was a bigger flaw right through the match.
I'm not disagreeing by the way because we have very few decent tackling midfielders (cattermole being the best in the league at it), but the biggest flaw in his game is temperament and under pressure he can drop clangers. There is no bigger pressure cooker than playing for England.Cattermole would have brought summit to the table last night if he had played. Certainly wouldn't have let the game pass him by like both Gerrard and Henderson.
Huddlestone lacks pace and gets caught out. He is a very good footballer but isn't a holding midfielder. He deserved a spot on the plane though.Huddlestone was the big omission from the squad IMHO
And I'm King Hindsight here, but Huddlestone / Lallana or both nursing the ball in midfield would have been better than that odd formation
If Cattermole can compete with Toure when we play City which I believe he does a cracking job btw, why couldn't he compete with other talented internationals...? He's exactly what England needed last night some one with a bit of leadership and determination. This is what was lacked pretty much throughout the squad that played last night.
