Cattermole for England?

In all seriousness do you think we'd have done better last night with him in midfield? We lacked any bite in the team, a midfield with no-one who can tackle, he also has the drive we needed as well, they had a 32 year old who looking at his wiki hasn't played for a decent European club so surely wouldn't be outclassed. Cattermole also steps up his game and is made for the big games against the better teams, only problem would be the lack of quality around him who can create chances.

But if we put Cattermole in the media would have went mental, Hodgson would have took stick off fans as well and his job would already be being questioned before the tournament began, obviously he wouldn't have even considered Cattermole anyway but that's a problem for us as well, the media jumping on every decision from the manager because we're Ingerland and should win everything because we invented the game and that.

England could certainly do a lot worse.

The one thing they lacked last night was someone who could press and harry Uruguay's players. Gerrard and Henderson playing as deep as they were was truly insipid.

No.

I love Cattermole but he's still way off the England squad imo.

If and its a big IF he can replicate the form towards the end of the season and do it consistently for the upcoming season then maybe.

Plus he isnt a fashionable player and he plays for Sunderland. Even if he manages all of the above unfortuntaly i'd still not expect him to get picked.

I think he could probably do a job at international level. There are players a lot worse than him playing at this world cup that's for sure, and in teams that are currently doing a lot better than England are (not saying the two are linked).

This is the equivalent of say the mags suggesting we'd have done better playing Steven Taylor instead of Phil Jagielka. Not that that's happened mind to my knowledge.

In other words, ridiculous backing of someone just because they play for your club.

Tiote is playing at this World Cup and didn't have a bad game for Ivory Coast yesterday.

Cattermole is twice the player of him.
Cattermole might get a game for the Ivory Coast if he was Ivorian. He shouldn't and won't get a game for England.

Stephen Taylor offers the same as Phil Jagielka only Taylor's a worse version so no it's not. We've tried the stick all your best players in and try to make a team tactic, how about create the best TEAM, might not be the best players we've got but Cattermole would at least make us function more as a team imo.

It's someone like cattermole we need, not necesarily him but someone willing do run around like an idiot and hassle players
Agree, Cattemole's just the best example i can think of.

He wouldn't, imo.

I fully expect to be torn apart for saying this, but I think we needed someone like Huddlestone: keeping the ball and using it well was a bigger flaw right through the match.
