also apparently he had about 40 more appearances in his schedule so could have done it later on. If it hadn't happened WWE probably wouldn't exist though.

Read that was because Michaels told Bret he would never lose to him (which was odd as he already had previously)

Without doubt, him and HHH are allegedly up there as the biggest political wwe people. Was a clip on YouTube of wrestlers calling them pussies, arseholes and soft as shit.
From the interview I seen, bret wanted to retain and drop it the next night on raw.
