Pitch inspectors live next to the riv, takes too long to get anywhere else19 wickets in a day at Edgbaston - deduct the fuckers points![]()
Looks like a good first day in defence of the title. Great to see Mustard batting at no5 if he applies himself no reason why he can't score a thousand championship runs, he has been good enough to make this move for a few years now. Breese or Muchall should be capable of batting at no7 with the tail.
400 is still in our reach. If The Colonel gets a ton and is supported well by the tail we should get there.
There seemed to be a lot of talk on comms today that this pitch is pretty placid, but I have a feeling that's mainly down to the Northants bowlers being prettt placid
yeah i found it quite strange considering there seemed to be several grubbers on day one they were bemoaning a pancake of a track.

That's a fair point, I expect us to gain a first innings lead should we get 350+, I fancy our bowlers to be more dangerous than theirs.
Obviously it's a trier track than you'd normally get in April, but it's hardly Taunton in mid August. Marty was very keen to emphasise Borthwick's wicket stayed low. It mainly seemed to be Clueless Lizzy that was banging on about it being a dry, flat wicket

Whoever wrote that..... Who's Gary Breese?!!! New signing? Standard Southern bias too like.
