LVCC - Northants v Durham

Thinks its been a really good day for Durham. 265 for 5 is a very decent return for 1st game of season in early April. Hopefully another 100 to 150 added tomorrow before Onions & Co are unleashed to get us plenty bowling points.

Looks like a good first day in defence of the title. Great to see Mustard batting at no5 if he applies himself no reason why he can't score a thousand championship runs, he has been good enough to make this move for a few years now. Breese or Muchall should be capable of batting at no7 with the tail.

good first day. target 350 then skittle them with our bowlers. Weather set fair so no issues there. They will be whipping boys this season surely.

It's April 13th in England and been raining for 27 months straight. Not quite sure what scores people are expecting?

Spot on

With the squad getting smaller and smaller, it isn't realistic to just allow Mustard to come in at 7 and have a bit of fun\

One of the senior players now, needs to really apply himself, and he without doubt has the talent to score big runs, hopefully this is a good year for him as it will be a massive plus for Durham

Good to see Jennings and Richardson starting well, very promising sign

400 is still in our reach. If The Colonel gets a ton and is supported well by the tail we should get there.

There seemed to be a lot of talk on comms today that this pitch is pretty placid, but I have a feeling that's mainly down to the Northants bowlers being prettt placid

yeah i found it quite strange considering there seemed to be several grubbers on day one they were bemoaning a pancake of a track.

Obviously it's a trier track than you'd normally get in April, but it's hardly Taunton in mid August. Marty was very keen to emphasise Borthwick's wicket stayed low. It mainly seemed to be Clueless Lizzy that was banging on about it being a dry, flat wicket

That's a fair point, I expect us to gain a first innings lead should we get 350+, I fancy our bowlers to be more dangerous than theirs.

Without knowing too much about their bowlers other than seeing the odd one day game on Sky, they seem like a typical Division 2 attack. All solid players but nothing more than line and length in thr low 80s. They've not really got a strike bowler. We've got 2 strike bowlers, making up the best new ball pair in the country, a left armer and a young lad with a bowling average of about 15

Whoever wrote that..... Who's Gary Breese?!!! New signing? Standard Southern bias too like.

Restrict durham?

This would be one of our highest scores last season ;)

Exactly marra. They took 5 wickets in 96 overs and face plenty time in the field tomorrow. I know who'll be happier. If anyone on here knows Marty, tell him that clueless Lizzy needs f***ing off. In the last half hour of the game she was saying how good a day it'd been for Northants...... Fuck me.

Fuck me, the cricinfo report is even worse!! We've even lost another wicket during the night

That c*nt clearly wasn't watching the same game as Marty and the Northants commentator.

Cringeworthy!

Canny day's batting though. Easily another 100 runs or so in that line up so hopefully we'll push on first thing tomorrow.
