I'm backing Poyet.

Giacherini and Fletcher haven't been playing much, they hadn't played in the final. While Larsson had played midweek Poyet couldn't field an entirely new midfield. Now that could be construed as playing a side destined to lose. The two previous games against hull were 9 and 10 men due to sendings off and they had Long and Jelavic., hardly comparable to 11 v 11.

The players let us down not the manager.

disregarding the rest of the team, are Fletcher and Scocco 2 players you'd start up front against Crystal Palace? if so why and if not, why not?

So why not play Ki, his best midfielder? You're flogging a dead horse here.

He can't get carried away by the lure of Wembley. He's trying to build something here, and a huge part of that relies on us being in the top flight.

We can't prioritise everything. He was right to rest key players yesterday, the FA Cup right now is a luxury we cannot afford.

It's too early in Poyet's tenure to chase silverware, but the fact that we're even talking about it - this season of all seasons - should give those laying into him pause for reflection.

We've had the best cup runs in decades. If you let cups be the reason you turn on Poyet, you need to have a word with yourself.

Here's to the real battle.
So fuck. He's not immune to (deserved) criticism.

Nazi Germany is exactly the correct analogy to compare with a football match. Well done.

It's an analogy used to show why an argument from popularity is logically flawed. Or how about the saying, "Fifty Million Frenchmen Can't Be Wrong"?[DOUBLEPOST=1394712655][/DOUBLEPOST]

Flecther and Scocco were played to give them much needed game time for the remaining 10-12 games. Not playing them at all means we go into the end run of the season HOPING that Borini continues to score and stays fit, and that Altidore will suddenly find out how to score and stay fit. As a manager he would be a f***ing idiot not to play them, especially given Hull aren't as strong without Long ad Jelavic and we had Borini and Johnson to call on as impact subs.

I'd expect him to start with maybe Borini on the left with Altidore as the lone CF and look to bring on Scocco and or Fletch if we are comfortably winning.

Can we expect to see Poyet rotating the squad on Saturday?

Can we fuck. He'll name his best first eleven.
 I think you may have completely misunderstood the point of rotation marra.[DOUBLEPOST=1394712804][/DOUBLEPOST]

I don't know the answer but what were the travel circumstances of those players compared to Ki's?

Ki played midweek and the midfield was decent enough for Hull. It's the forward line I'd question as Fletcher had only scored once (coming on as sub at Cardiff)) since the 2-1 Mags win at home in October!!!! as for Scocco, well nothing much to say at the moment

that's a lot to heap onto a weakened team because at least they had Borini in the Southampton game. He will chase and run a lot more than Fletcher and Scocco

ideally Gus should have started Borini and if not, brought him (or Ki) on at half time to take control of the piss poor game that was there for the taking

Maybe Larsson proved to be fitter for the game after midweek, there's a lot goes on the training ground we don't have the luxury to analyse. Would he play Ki on the right instead of Larsson? I'm not convinced that would be wise to do.

Ki was in Greece. Giaccherini Spain, Fletcher Poland[DOUBLEPOST=1394712940][/DOUBLEPOST]

Neither do you is the point, except I'm willing to say I don't have the luxury of the information. You're making an assertion that he definitely played a weak side. Playing Ki may have been weaker.

Do YOU want the same team to play against Palace on Saturday that 'played' at Hull?

all the more puzzling as to why he put Fletcher ahead of Borini at the start

Good point PISTON, lad.

Of all the ones mentioned he is the only player where there is absolutely zero logical explanation barring injury. The rest hover between 5% -25% explanation at best.
Taken as a "package" this is a clearly weakened team. It set the whole tone on a half hearted day.
