I'm backing Poyet.

Yes I do, like when he came on after we had been battered by Arsenal and put in a great shift, scored a cracking goal and was a deserved MotM. Or the game before that when he played against Southampton, you know that other game the one with 9 changes. Played even better in that game than he did against Arsenal.

I can see this all from the other side of the world, what's your excuse?

You may see it from the other side of the world but I reckon your view is tainted by what you want to see.

You do know that closing your eyes, putting your fingers in your ears is what kids do? So you're saying he played shit against Arsenal, didn't deserve MotM and played shite against Southampton? I've heard it all now, I hope you're clinically blind cause I'm at a loss to explain your blindness and you've got the audacity to say I see only what I want to see? Be honest, man up and admit your "weakened" narrative is that of kid hoying his toys out of the pram.

The midfield of Colback, Larrson and Cattermole was the same against Man City, the only difference is they played well against MC. Vergini and Dossena didn't do anything that resulted in conceding goals, Dossena was even part of some of our more penetrating forward movements. Bardsely and O'Shea well they are also our non rotated players, yet one of them proved to be "weaker" than the rotated defenders.

Giacherini on recent form was a good shout, expected him to do a hell of a lot more than he did, which was near nought. Fletcher is looking well off his game still and Scocco had a couple of moments but his touch let him down. They didn't score, but neither of them three lost the game for us, that leak in our game came from a midfield/defence that was practically identical to that of the MC game - has played more than enough games together and should have played better than they did.

Colback Larrson

Cattermole

Dossena O'shea Vergini Bardsley
We were missing our best centre half, best central midfielder, best striker, best winger and best goalkeeper. Entire spine of the side was weakened, one enforced the others by choice. Poyet got the team wrong.

Dear me.
I'll just continue with what I do, you carry on with what you do.
I will however enjoy the warmth of being in a vast majority here.

Stop burying your head in the sand, we were massively weakened.

Brown was injured, Ki had played midweek and Borini was available as an impact sub. Never mind the fact that they were also missing from the Southampton game, you know, that game which an even more "weakened" team played a fuck load better.

And Southampton were weakened even further, their fans were not happy at all.
Weakened team, away from home against a team you have lost against twice, in a 1/4 final, great idea. It worked very well. No one wanted to go to Wembley again anyway.

Don't rely on that bastion, an argument from popularity is a logical fallacy and shows the weakness of your position.

I say you are in a weak position, all of these people cannot be wrong.
I am however happy to stand alone, it just so happens that loads agree with me, or if not with me, with my opinion of the matter.
I put it to you that you are trying to take some sort of highground for some unknown reason.

The Southampton has no bearing on the Hull game. The 2 previous Hull games do, we lost them both. Its an FA Cup quarter final, a f***ing quarter final and we pissed about with a weakened side. As for Ki playing midweek  So had Larsson and Fletcher. Giaccherini had been away with his country.

Don't get this as me not backing Poyet, I do. However he got it wrong.

Do you need me to explain to you why saying you're in the majority doesn't mean your position is correct?

COPY n PASTED

ah, the old Southampton game is brought up again

some points to note about the Southampton 'myth' as it's getting as ridiculous as the Mag Slaying Altidore myth!

1) we were at home so the changed players are obviously on a more familiar playing surface along with home comforts with crowd etc. How many of the changes had previously played at Hull?
2) Southampton changed players also, 6 of them
3) only 4 of the Southampton FA Cup team had started the League game against us 4 weeks earlier
4) We had 3 changes to Hull team from Southampton team, see point 5)
5) Borini played the whole Southampton game so at least we had a goal threat and someone up front pressuring the Southampton defence which would relieve the midfield/defence at times. Fletcher came in for him and Bardsley came in for Celutska and Colback for Gardener. Fletcher & Scocco was a first time forward line up so something unknown (although previous performances gave a good idea of what to expect)
6) a place at Wembley wasn't a big a stake
7) Lambert missed an open goal!
8) Southampton were probably more focused on 7th place at the time (just 3 points behind)
9) Hull were at home and both the players the crowd was up for it, not exactly SOL atmosphere although our fans gave it 100%
10) it's a different game altogether regardless of the 9 points above

to compare the Southampton game to the Hull game and try to use it as a valid argument just shows the naivety of some SAFC fans. Why does the same (or 1 or 2 changes) team win against a good side one week and then lose the next against a poorer team? it's because each game is different

Gus went into the Hull game without a goal threat and it showed! if Borini had started then who knows what would have happened

but no doubt people will say the 'injury' claim. Players can get injured at any time so playing 1 more game does increase risk but what is the likely hood of it actually happening. Plus he did come on at 0-0 and if anything would have had more chance of injury due to the desperation of getting the win so late in the game

Do you need me to explain to you why saying you're in the majority doesn't mean your position is correct?

No, you don't need to. However an old maxim states that all of these people cannot be wrong. And we aren't.

I am backing Gus not to royally feck up his team selections again in any game that the supporters of that club expect a full strength team to be put out.

Giacherini and Fletcher haven't been playing much, they hadn't played in the final. While Larsson had played midweek Poyet couldn't field an entirely new midfield. Now that could be construed as playing a side destined to lose. The two previous games against hull were 9 and 10 men due to sendings off and they had Long and Jelavic., hardly comparable to 11 v 11.

The players let us down not the manager.

Fella, the enormity of this f**k up is only eclipsed by the fact that me and @rocky have finally agreed on something. That's how much Gus f**ked up. It's beyond compare.

Can we expect to see Poyet rotating the squad on Saturday?

Can we fuck. He'll name his best first eleven.
